    Lucifer's Sad Choice

    Year A, Quarter 1, Number 2

Hello Boys and Girls, Uncle Steve has more wonderful things to share with you from the Holy Bible

    about heaven.

    Angels

One day the Apostle John saw a vision of heaven recorded in Revelation 4 verses 2 and 3 and chapter 5

    verse 11:

2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And

he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in

sight like unto an emerald. (Re 4:2-3)

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and

the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; (Re 5:11)

King David wrote a song about some wonderful things that God does. Here it is in Psalm 104:1 through

4:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour andmajesty. 2 Who coverest thyselfwith light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: 3

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the

wings of the wind: 4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: (Ps 104:1-4)

Long before God made planet Earth, He made many many angels. King David tells us in Psalm 103 verses 19 to

    21 what the angels did:

19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. 20 Bless the LORD,

ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless

ye the LORD, allye his hosts;ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. (Ps 103:19-21)

    Covering Cherubs

God told Moses to make a special place on earth for God to dwell after the pattern of God's throne in

heaven. By this illustration recorded in Exodus 25:verses 8 to 22, we can understand better what it is

    like in heaven:

8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I shew thee, after

the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

10 And they shall make an arkofshittim wood: ... 11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and

without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about. 12 And thou shalt cast fourrings of gold for it, and put them in the four corners thereof; ... 13 And thou shalt make staves ofshittim wood,

and overlay them with gold. 14 And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark

may be borne with them. ... 16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.17 And thou shalt make a mercy seat ofpure gold: ... 18 And thou shalt make two cherubims ofgold. ... 19 And

make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the

cherubims on the two ends thereof. 20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth theirwings on high, covering the

mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall lookone to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of

the cherubims be. 21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the

testimony that I shall give thee.

22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the

two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment

unto the children of Israel. (Ex 25:8-22)

Two angels had a very special job to cover the very throne of God with their wings. God told Ezekiel how verybeautiful one of these angels were in chapter 28, verses 12-15:

12 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 13 Thou hast been

in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the

beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thytabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou artthe anointed cherub

that covereth; and I have set theeso: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in

the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wastperfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity

was found in thee. (Eze 28:12-15)

    The Fall of Lucifer

God created this angel perfect until iniquity was found in him. Verses 2 through 5 and 16 to 18 tell us

    more about what happened:

2 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of

God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou arta man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: 3Behold, thou artwiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: 4 With thy wisdom and with

thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: 5 By thy greatwisdom andby thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches.

    (Eze 28:2-5)

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast

sinned. ... 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy

brightness: ... 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy

    traffick. ... (Eze 28:16-18)

The prophet Isaiah tells us the name of this angel that sinned in chapter 14, verses 12 to 14:

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground,

    which didst weaken the nations!13

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt mythrone above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I

will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isa 14:12-14)

The apostle John tells us in Revelation 12 verses 3 through 12 what happened next in heaven:

3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten

horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast

    them to the earth. ...

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his

angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast

out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the

earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

    10

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God,and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God

day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they

loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice,ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the

inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he

knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Re 12:3-12)

Ezekiel 28 verses 16 through 19, tell us what is going to happen to the devil in a short time:

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned:

therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from

the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy

wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may

behold thee. 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy

traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to

ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19 All they that know thee among the people shall

be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and nevershaltthou be any more. (Eze 28:16-19)

    You Can Choose

Until that time, Satan is very busy as Peter warns us in his first book, chapter 5 and verse 8:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may

    devour: (1Pe 5:8)

In the book of John, chapter 8 and verse 44, Jesus told the Pharisees:

Ye are ofyourfather the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning,

and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for

he is a liar, and the father of it. (Joh 8:44)The apostle John in his first letter, chapter 3 and verses 1 to 10, tells us that we do not have to be the

    children of the devil:

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. ...

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5 And ye know

that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not:

whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth

righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth

from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the

devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin,

because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever

doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1Jo 3:1-10)Moses makes the choice plain in Deuteronomy 30, verses 15 to 20:

15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16 In that I command thee this day to

love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments,

that thou mayest live and multiply. ... 17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be

drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely

perish. ... 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, thatI have set before you life and death,

blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the

LORD thy God, andthat thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to

Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. (De 30:15-20)
