Unified is not “Classic” Unified – change to Unified Model

Functional Highlights

Unified models based on BW meta-data for enterprise wide planning

scenarios

Rich set of pre-defined planning functions and reporting capabilities, e.g.

disaggregation, repost, revaluation, currency translation, unit conversion,

inverse formula calculations

Highly flexible session based simulations, including e.g. master data

planning

Unified user interface for planning and reporting

Key Differentiators

BW data warehousing capabilities provide well established and proven data

consolidation and harmonization services

Best-of-breed data extraction for SAP Business Suite increases flexibility,

reduces maintenance and lowers TCO

Deep integration with SAP ERP for closed loop scenarios, e.g. extraction of

actuals and write-back of planning results

High performance due to the use of dedicated EPM operators within HANA

Platform for various planning applications, e.g. SAP CRM-TPM and

Planning for Retail

The Consolidation Central section has been introduced in order to provide a

single unified environment to manage consolidation tasks.

The “Consolidation Central” directory available in the new web client will allow :

- Creation and maintenance of consolidation scopes on the web

Enhanced journal entries

Competing with HFM :

HFM does not provide any graphic interface to manage scopes and

consolidation parameters (only data entry grids or flat file load can be

used).

BPC 10.0 now allows to create/modify journals in the web client.

The EPM add-in is a Microsoft Office add-in. You most likely use a recent

version of Microsoft Office with the new interface. For example, you can use

the EPM add-in with Microsoft Office 2007.

The Microsoft Office interface is made up of the following elements:

The Ribbon has several tabs.

A tab corresponds to an activity; it contains several groups.

A group contains commands.

Some commands open windows.

Panels are available to perform some operations.

You see here the Microsoft Excel interface of the EPM add-in. It has:

One EPM tab

One Data Manager tab

The EPM tab, the Data Analysis group and the Edit Report command are

highlighted.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint interfaces of the EPM add-in exist. They are

organized in a similar way, but offer less functionality.

Landing Page shows all administration objects as part of an Application Set Enhanced Dimension Management User Interface

Support for multi-select for mass operations saves time Context sensitive Action Toolbar displays actions you can perform on selected objects Ability to sort by Dimension Name or Dimension Type makes it faster and easier to manage

dimensions

Improved App Management Screen Mass Maintenance Option Mouse over provides detailed information for better understanding of the individual application’s

purpose

Controls replace former Validation business rules. They can be activated for any type of model (consolidation, budgeting…).

In the administration console, the Controls home page provides an overview of all existing controls per model.

Vs. HFM : HFM does not provide any specific functionality for controls. In HFM, controls are defined as any other account/indicator. BPC 10.0 NW will provide a robust out-of-the-box validation framework, which will ease administration of controls and will allow the creation of advanced controls without any scripting HFM doesn’t have the concept of Control Sets – this is something from FC.

Controls sets are group of controls. The maintenance interface of control sets allows the administrator to select the required control(s) very easily in the list of all available controls in the current model.

Control sets are category/period dependent. Assignments will allow to define such dependency. For instance you can specify a given control set for budget categories, another one for actuals…

Actual and Plan Data in Different InfoCubes

In most cases, it makes sense to have the actual data in an InfoCube and the

plan data in a separate real-time InfoCube.

InfoCubes contain less data.

If the real-time InfoCube only contains plan data, it is not necessary to

manually switch to the data load mode.
