Autonomy is a French, Paris-based company focused on improving

the way we move in cities. Our annual flagship event, ‘Autonomy & The Urban Mobility Summit’, is where innovators, cities and urbanites gather to build a new mobility landscape.

The 3-day event includes a conference (The Urban Mobility Summit), an exhibition area, test tracks & demos and startup pitch sessions. Attendees have the opportunity to try out the latest mobility innovations disrupting the industry.

The first two days are dedicated to professionals and institutions (B2B – B2G) and the third day is open to the general public (B2C).

Autonomy is an amazing showcase of the latest French and international innovations

in urban mobility. I was delighted to meet many

companies and innovative startups to discuss the new

solutions they offer for a shared, cleaner, autonomous, and more connected mobility.

Elisabeth Borne French Minister of Transport

Autonomy aims to create the most important platform where public and private organisations collaborate to solve urban mobility challenges. The future of urban mobility is a hot discussion topic and this year we upgraded our conference program, ‘The Urban Mobility Summit’, to being a key feature of Autonomy 2017. It proved a useful platform for policymakers, companies and innovators to share their vision on the five key mobility disruptors: active mobility, data analytics, electric, shared and autonomous vehicles – ADESA for short.

We were honoured to host leading city and transport networks – C40 Cities, ICLEI, UITP and Polis – and mobility market shapers: Engie, Renault, Allianz, Blue Solutions Groupe Bolloré, ChargePoint, OFO, Cycleurope, UJET, Mappy, Vulog and ViaID. Our partnerships with these and other organisations position Autonomy as the world’s go-to urban mobility event.

FOUNDER'S OVERVIEW

We are also very pleased about the feedback we received from exhibitors. For the second edition, participants were impressed by the quality and diversity of our attendees. Exhibitors and guests reported having quality discussions and making important contacts; Also 80% of exhibitors reached their targets and 84% would like to be involved in next year’s event.

Autonomy’s success would not have been possible without our partners, speakers, exhibitors, visitors and volunteers. We hope to see them again next year for our third edition: Paris, Grande Halle de la Villette, 25-27 October 2018.

Please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or share feedback and ideas by emailing me at [email protected]

Ross Douglas, Autonomy CEO & Founder

The way we move in cities is changing. To help understand the transition Autonomy created the acronym ADESA, which illustrates the five elements disrupting mobility: Active mobility, Data analytics, Electric, Shared, and Autonomous vehicles.

Active mobilityCycling, walking, skating, roller-blading, kick-scooting etc. are still the most efficient and healthiest ways to move in cities.

Shared mobilityShared mobility is well established in most major European cities. A second generation of free-floating ‘dockless’ vehicles, booked and paid for via smartphone, will soon enter our cities.

Autonomous vehiclesThe race is on between two competing AV solutions: OEMs building cars that can switch to autopilot on request and tech companies building robo-taxis that cannot be driven. There is no doubt that urbanites will start using AVs regularly in major cities by 2025.

Data analyticsThe rise of the Internet of Things makes it easy to capture data and optimise systems. Connected vehicles will generate the necessary data to enable autonomous driving. Smart Cities already leverage data to help us get around.

Electric vehiclesThe future of mobility is electric: buses, cars, 3-wheelers, scooters, bicycles, segways and solowheels are benefitting from improved battery technology. Reduced maintenance and running costs make EVs more appealing for urbanites. We now need to provide clean energy to meet this growing demand.

AUTONOMY'S 5 DISRUPTORS

We believe that the interplay of these five factors will make single car ownership in European cities a thing of the past much sooner than people think.

At Autonomy we believe that urbanites will drive the transition toward sustainable mobility. Autonomy opened to the general public to give them a sneak peek of the way they will move in cities tomorrow and encourage them to adopt new mobility solutions.

On Saturday the 21st October, more than 4 000 visitors (families, students, locals) enjoyed numerous activities. For 2017 we introduced the 'bourse aux vélos', where Parisians brought their old bikes to sell.

PUBLIC DAY

Test tracks There’s no better way to understand the future of mobility than to experience it. Monowheels, hoverboards, e-bikes, scooters, motor scooters and electric vehicles, such as the Renault Zoé and the Twizy, were available to try out. With four test tracks, Autonomy visitors experienced a full range of future urban mobility technologies.

Kids zone For the daring kids who live for speed, our team of professionals taught them how to ride a scooter like an expert. There were also road-safety workshops, creative drawing and reading activities.

Exhibitor Sales For 2018, we will keep on pushing private sales to consumers by setting up pop-up stores, on the Public Day.

INSIGHTS FOR 2018 We will be back at La Villette in October 2018 for an even larger edition of Autonomy. What we learned from our first two editions is that exhibitors and sponsors are wanting to do business with international cities and companies that they don’t get to meet every day. To satisfy this need we have introduced a team focused on policy makers and have increased our sales team to attract companies from around the world.

The 2018 Urban Mobility Summit will be more internationally-focused than ever before and will feature a wide-variety of global urban mobility disrupters and innovators.

Next year we will again strive to build an event that is collaborative, disruptive and celebratory of the five ADESA verticals: active mobility, data & analytics, electric vehicles, shared mobility and autonomous vehicles.
