1) Introduction and Summary

In April 1996, a single drill hole was used to test two parallel VLF-EM anomalies outlined on the Loki Property, held by Royal Oak Mines Inc., which is located in Deloro Township near the City of Timmins, Ontario. The hole cored a 16 foot wide fault structure which is the probable cause of one of the anomalies. The second, weaker anomaly probably relates to a flow contact within the mafic volcanic pile.

2) Location, Claims and Access

The Loki Property consists of six (6) contiguous claims located in the north-east quadrant of Deloro Township, about 8 km south-east of the centre of the City of Timmins, Ontario (Figures l and 2). The claims that form the property are 779874, 779875, 783301, 747316, 752550 and 752551 (Figure 3).

3) Previous Work

Scattered pits and trenches dating back several decades are found throughout the property, but this past work has not been recorded.

Comstate Resources carried out a humus sampling program as reported in 1981 (file no. T-2494), and in 1984 Pamour Porcupine Mines conducted geophysical surveys and geological mapping on the claim group (file no. T-2915).

In 1987 the property was explored by E.H. van Hees Geological Services Inc. who did mapping, prospecting, channel sampling, mechanical stripping and completed 13 diamond drill holes totalling 4,579 feet. Drilling focused on the iron formation which strikes east to south-east across the northern portion of the property. The best intersection from the iron formation was 0.016 opt Au/13.0 feet. The secondary targets for drill testing were areas of carbonate alteration, and the best intersection from those areas was 0.016 opt Au/11.5 feet.

4) Geology

The Loki Property is located within the Deloro Group of Volcanics, and is located about l .0 mile south of the Destor-Porcupine Fault, which strikes east-northeast across the top of Deloro Township.

The property geology, as taken from E.H. van Hees Geological Services Inc. report of 1987, consists of west-southwest striking volcanics with dips ranging from 55 to 750 north. Tops are also to the north. Stratigraphy consists of interlayered intermediate to felsic volcanics, massive mafic volcanics, pillowed (and variolitic) mafic volcanic flows and two horizons of iron formation. Quartz and quartz-feldspar porphyries and diabase form the intrusive rocks.

The rocks have undergone low grade greenschist facies metamorphism, and hydrothermal alteration exists locally as calcite, ankerite, and minor areas of green carbonate.

Access to the property is via a series of bush roads south and east from the Buffalo Ankerite Mine. The property and surrounding area has been recently logged out.

5) 1996 Drill Hole LOK 96-1

A single drill hole was collared on Line 14+OOW at 1+OOS at -500 south and drilled to a depth of 797 feet (Figures 4 and 5) between April 17 and 19, 1996 by MacKenzie Drilling Ltd. The hole was designed to test two sub-parallel VLF-EM anomalies (labelled H and I, Figure 4) outlined by the 1987 program completed by E.H. van Hees Geological Services Inc. These anomalies are located in the north-east quadrant of claim 779874. Hole LOK96-1 was located 100 feet north of hole MCL87-12 which was drilled in 1987 in an attempt to explain these anomalies, but no reason for the anomalies was found by the drilling of that hole.

Hole LOK96-1 encountered a zone of faulting between 186.0 and 202.0 feet within chloritic mafic volcanics, which corresponds to the location of anomaly H. Specks of chalcopyrite were also observed along with minor quartz veining, but the sample from this interval returned only 0.001 opt Au. The hole was drilled to a depth of 797 feet, well past the projected location of anomaly I, but cored only chlorite pillowed and massive mafic volcanics with a main contact at 435 feet. This contact is the probably cause of Anomaly I.

6) Conclusions and Recommendations

Hole LOK96-1 cored a 16 foot wide fault structure within chloritic mafic volcanics

between 186.0 and 202.0 feet, which is the probable cause of the VLF-EM anomaly "H"

located on claim 779874 on the Loki Property in Deloro Township. The hole was drilled

to a total depth of 797 feet in an attempt to explain the parallel, weaker anomaly'T'. The

probable cause of this feature is a main contact horizon between massive and pillowed

mafic volcanic flows which was cored at a depth of 435.0 feet in the hole.

The most detailed work on the property was completed by E.H. van Hees Geological

Services Inc. in 1987 who drilled 13 holes testing various targets on the property. This

work met with some encouragement, but because the holes were typically 300-500 feet

deep, only the near surface portion of the property has been examined. Recommendations

for further work would therefore be more drilling, but at deeper elevations than have been

completed in the past.
