STRAWBERRY RIDGE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

By: Sharon Hurley 315 9487

FROM THE MANAGER’S DESK

HAPPY NEW YEAR The Strawberry Ridge Staff would like to wish each and every one of you a healthy, happy and prosper-ous New Year.

The Annual Home Alone Christmas Dinner was enjoyed by quite a few of our residents, thanks again to the HOA and Tim Mosher for a wonderful dinner. Our sales team are gearing for a fast paced and busy selling season. If you are planning to sell your home we would be happy to help! We have a dedicated, professional sales staff, as well as terrific marketing program to aid in the sale of your home. Call or come by the office for more information. Once again we are offering a $250.00 referral fee to any resident who refers a friend or relative. It’s easy, just tell your friends and family about our community, and if they purchase a home through our office you will receive $250.00. Please let them know to mention your name when they arrive for a home tour. Rent coupons will be available in our office by January 1, 2016

Happy New Year to all residents of Strawberry Ridge. Let’s welcome 2016 with wishes of health and happiness to every-one. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed our delicious Christmas Home Alone dinner and rocked the beginning of 2016 at our New Year’s Eve party at the Clubhouse. With the New Year, the Homeowner’s Association is planning for our annual meeting with Board elections on the first Saturday in March. There are three (3) seats on the Board and Maize McMahon has stepped forward to lead the nomi-nating committee. We welcome anyone who is interested in being on the Board (and you must be a paid voting member of the HOA), to run for a seat. There are several benefits of serving on the Board of Directors: you can suggest ways to improve SR and the HOA, you get to meet and know many people here in the Park, participation will keep you informed about things happening in SR , and you can have a voice in and vote on issues that affect SR residents. So please think it over and if your interested or wish to learn more about serving on the Board of Directors. We also encourage residents to come to our general business meeting in the Clubhouse on the first Saturday of each month after coffee and donuts and/or the Board of Directors meeting on the third Monday at 7 P.M. at the Activity Center. We are interested in hearing your thoughts! Place January 28th from 8 AM – 12 PM on your calendar for the third (and last) visit of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Golf Cart and Bicycle registration. There is no charge and you need no paperwork, but bring your bike or cart to the Ac-tivity Center and the Deputies will locate your serial number and register it for you. Although registration will not protect against theft, many golf carts and bicycles are recovered by the Sheriff’s Department and registration insures you will get them back if recovered.

CAUGHT BEING GOOD

January, 2016 Many good things occur in Strawberry Ridge every single day. Most of these acts are unrecognized and appreciated by all but the individuals involved. This is the time and place to recognize these acts! Have you caught someone doing some-thing good or helpful to another that should be acknowledged? It need not be a really big thing, just something that is wor-thy of notice and appreciation. Please call or email any Homeowners Association Board member or email [email protected] with the name of the person and what they have done that is special. We will acknowledge them in this space.

Clarence “C” Yoder is our first nominee this month. Gwen Dominguez reports that “C” was very helpful recently when she had an auto accident and her car was totaled. He helped her with all of the details necessary to settle the accident. He then helped her in the car buying process including all of the paperwork involved. Thanks, Clarence for being there and helping your neighbor. Our second nominee for this month is Donald Rackley . Jim Rogers nominated his neighbor for being there to help after he had shoulder surgery. Donald came over, cut, edged and blew the whole yard. Thanks, Donald, what a good neighbor!

SRHA MEMBERSHIP Rose Panella Membership Chairperson 662-9862

As of this month, we now have a total of 144 paid members. It is painless to join. The cost to join is $6.00 for one year membership which breaks down to 50 cents per month. If you join for three years, the membership is $15.00 and comes to 42 cents per month. Also, if you join for 1 year now, the membership will expire on 3/31/16. In either case, a new applica-tion must be completed. If you need an application you will find a folder outside of the HOA office with applications in it or you can give me a call and I will bring one to your home. Once you have completed the form, the form and money can be dropped in the slot in the HOA door in the event no one is there. I do go in and out of the office quite frequently and will get your form. Once I have it, I will type your new membership card and deliver it to your door. Remember, March 2016 we will be having a vote regarding the board members. We have 3 people whose time on the board will be expiring. This is the time that time the people who are paid members will be able to vote. If anyone would like to run to be a board member please contact Mazie McMahon at 655-0750. In order to run for the board you must be paid member of the association. Remember the last day you can join so you can vote is January 31st., 2016. Think about it.

BINGO Come on out to BINGO every Wednesday at the clubhouse. We sell tickets from 5:45 – 6:45 and the games begin at 7 PM. Meet your friends and neighbors and enjoy Bingo with the chance of winning, coffee and snacks, and a great time. We are also always looking for people to assist: selling cards, setup, and calling. If you can help, you can choose your schedule and need not assist every Wednesday. There is a sign up sheet for the weeks and jobs for you. For more infor-mation, call Dee Costoso (436-0793) or Linda Reimert (495-3928).

SRHA NOMINATING COMMITTEE Mazie McMahon – 655-0750

An election will be held on March 5th for three seats on the SRHA Board of Directors. Anyone who is interested in running, please contact me or any member of the Nominating Committee, which includes: Jan Fuerst, Mary Kendall, and Joyce Gugel.

FMO NEWS By: Susan Ambrose, District 10 President, Hillsborough County 813-365-1422

Just got back from The Federation of Manufactured Home Owners District President and FMO Board Members Meeting held in Kissimmee, Fl. What a meeting!!!!! The FMO is working day and night (all volunteers) to make sure owners of manufactured homes on leased property are being treated fairly and the state statues are being followed by home owners as well as park owners and adhering to the statues. We had some great speakers and all the District Presidents and their Delegates learned so much about legislation, writing, introducing and getting a bill through our state legislature to become part of the 723. We need the financial and physical support for the FMO from every manufactured home owner in order to continue to represent our residents on a state level. If you are not a member or your membership is due for re-newal consider a $25 yearly membership fee.....that is $2.08 a month. Without the FMO, a tax was being proposed by your legislatures on all the attached structures of your home. It would have cost the average home owner approximately $500 per year over and above your current lot rent. $25 a year sounds like a bargain to me. We need your support and you need our expertise to make sure your best interest as a home owner is being represented throughout the state of Florida.

ACT OF KINDNESS: Sue Berst has been cutting grass for neighbors because the lawn man (not sure of his name) had some health issues and was unable to continue his lawn service at this time. Sue did not want the lawn man to loose his clients while he re-covers. The lawn fee is going to the man while he recovers. Now THAT is a good neighbor.

STRAWBERRY SINGERS

By Sylvia Haywood 436-0387 If you all enjoyed listening to our Christmas Concert as much as we did in presenting it to you, then we all had a wonderful evening! So we are all primed for a wonderful Christmas! Our wish for you is that this will be your Merriest and Blessed Christmas. Don't forget to wish everyone you see a Merry Christmas! We would like to take a moment to thank Rose Pan-ella for all the work she did in advance of the concert. Lots of the singers pitch in to help but Rose went above and beyond – thank you Rosy!!

NOW, it is that time again!!! After you welcome in the New Year in fine fashion, get your

voices ready to sing!

SPRING CONCERT PRACTICE WILL BEGIN ON JANUARY 15, 2016

AT 1:00 PM IN THE CLUBHOUSE!

As always, we are inviting all members of our great community to join us in song. Practices are usually 1 hour long and we get to learn some new songs and remember some of our old favorites. Being able to carry a tune and being able to read - not notes, but the words - are just about the only requirements. Oh! and the most important of all - the love of music! We are not professionals but we enjoy bringing the joy of song to our friends and neighbors. So have a spectacular New Year celebration and then come and sing with us! January 15, 2016, 1:00 PM, Strawberry Ridge Clubhouse!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH & PATROL

By: Lisa Stropes We have been blessed this past year with many new members to the Neighborhood Watch & Volunteer Patrol Group. Thank you to all the volunteers. Hope to see you at the next meeting. Our next meeting is January 12th, 7pm at the Activi-ties Center. Contact me if interested in joining; 813-966-5194 or [email protected]. A Sales Associate at Walmart, notices a man in the card section. When she walks by an hour later and sees him

still there she walks over to see if she can help. “Can I help you?” she asks. “Well I don’t know” the man re-

sponds “I’m having a problem, I can’t find anything that my wife would believe!”

Before going in for surgery I thought it would be funny if I posted a note on myself telling the surgeon to be

careful. After the surgery I found another note on myself .”Anyone know where my cell phone is????????”

LIFEPATH HOSPICE

By: Sue Garno 412-2575

I am now working back with Lifepath Hospice of Hillsborough County. I want to thank all the residents who donated canned goods to our food drive last October— you helped us help many needy hospice families in our area. Everything was very much appreciated! I also wanted to say if you have any decorations or items you “don’t want to restock” from the holidays, the thrift store “Life’s Treasures” on S.R 60 would be glad to have them! Keep them in mind when you do your spring cleaning also. The monies from all the thrift stores goes for programs and patients that have no insurance or means to pay for their care. In April, there is a 3 day weekend for the children's grief camp, so if you know anyone who could benefit from that week-end, let me know and I can get you the information, or you can go online at the S.R. blog and there is some Hospice infor-mation there. Thanks again for what our residents do to help support our Hospice!

RESIDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (RAC) By: Lisa Stropes via email @ [email protected] or at 813-966-5194.

Below are the highlights of the RAC meeting with park representative Bob Young and SR Management. Request for Bocce Ball and Horseshoe Pits – Management is willing to work with interested parties who wish to pursue the building of horseshoe pits down near the Activities Center. The RAC will appoint someone to work with management to accomplish this. If you wish to head this group please contact Lisa Stropes via email @ [email protected] or at 813-966-5194. Interest in Horseshoes will determine whether a court for Bocce Ball can be pursued as this is a large expense. Road Paving – Management is in the process of having contractors bid for paving work on the roads within StrawBerry Ridge. This job should be completed within the 1st quarter of 2016. Additional Tables at the Outdoor Pool – Management will add an additional table and chairs under the cover at the out-door pool. In addition, they will add two tables and eight chairs on the outside patio at the main Clubhouse. Bug Zapper at the Outdoor Pool – Management is not in favor of adding a bug zapper at the outdoor pool due to the fact that these tend to attract more bugs than what is zapped, as well as being a major on-going maintenance issue. The next scheduled RAC meeting with Management will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Activities Center. RAC members include Lisa Stropes, Chairperson, Marge Getting, Sue Senna and Tim Mosher.
