Skema’S modular SubStationS can be used for a wide variety of applications including lv/Mv/hv packaged substa-tions, local equipMent rooMs, con-trol rooMs, generator power plant rooMs, personnel refuges and as general process or utility buildings. they are fully aSSembled and rigor-ously teSted within Skema facilitieS before being shipped to site, by land, sea or air, ready for rapid inStalla-tion and commiSSioning.

Skema’s Modular Substations can
be designed with fire ratings as
per the client’s requirements, and
with the capacity to withstand both
seismic and blast events. They are
suitable for ambient temperatures of
between -40°c and +50°c, resist-
ant to harsh environmental condi-
tions and supplied with special paint
coating cycles that are appropri-
ate for each specific application.
Skema’s Modular Substations are
space-efficient, highly reliable and
fully integrated, and equipped with
the latest state-of-the-art technol-
ogy for Oil & Gas applications. They
are designed to work safely in harsh,
potentially explosive and chemically
contaminated environments, and are
intended for both onshore and off-
shore Oil & Gas / petrochemical plants.
A modular approach is key to creat-
ing large-scale structures, taking due
account of the transit constraints or
any potentially problematic conditions
(weight limits, road or railway transport,
presence of nearby structures, etc.).
turnkey SolutionS
During the project, Skema acts as an
EPc contractor, managing, co-ordinat-
ing and monitoring every aspect of the
project: detailed design, project man-
agement, scheduling, procurement
and expediting, qA/HSE manage-
ment, documentation, fabrication, all
multidisciplinary installation activities
(architectural, mechanical, E&I, HvAc,
etc.), and testing and pre-commis-
sioning at Skema’s fabrication yards.
In addition, Skema can transport
the equipment onto seagoing ves-
sels, and can also provide trans-
portation to site and full installation
and commissioning, as well as op-
erational support and maintenance
for the life cycle of the installation.

The system makes it possible to con-
duct three-dimensional analysis of
building structures, space optimiza-
tion, clash avoidance and safety tol-
erances; to study static and dynamic
loads for lifting, transportation, blast
and seismic loads; to create innova-
tive designs and building components.
A complete 3D model of the building
can be created by Skema’s special-
ists during the engineering phase.
The model features all of the systems
and auxiliaries, and is used for the
following purposes:
To avoid clashes between every- >
thing that is to be installed with-
in the building
To optimize space and cable routing >
To determine the installation >
sequence for each system
To verify the required space for >
the installation and the removal of
major pieces of equipment
To verify expansion potential >

ture equipment, or equipment in-
stalled by others)

Skema’s Engineering team is accus-
tomed to dealing with the problems
of international shipping, documenta-
tion and certificates, custom duties or
special requirements for each type of
transport such as:
Road transportation >
barge or ship >
Airfreight >
Rail transport. >
Skema can deal with SPMT han-
dling, lifting and transport opera-
tions under exceptional conditions,
as well as barge dressing and setting.
Skema can also provide the follow-
ing additional engineering services
for load out and transport: grillage
and sea-fastening calculations,
ballasting calculations, mooring
details, sea transport analysis and
load out manuals, offshore lifting
calculations, handling temporary
equipment, dimensioning and lift-
ing, checking of lugs/spreader bars,
general arrangements and details of
temporary structures for transport.
