    Poly Track

    21

January 2007 - Installed a new $8.5 Million Poly Track race track surface made of recycled carpet fiber, used tires andwaxed sand. The Poly Track was a great contributor to our water savings of 1,488,000 gallons of water during the Del MarThoroughbred Club Race Meet. The old dirt track had to be watered after each race. The Fairgrounds reduced its sewageusage by approximately 20% during the racing season in part by requiring spray nozzles with automatic shut-off valveson the wash rack hoses.

The Fairgrounds staff created a Green Team to oversee Source Reduction, Energy Conservation, Recycling andbuying recycled content products.
