SAFETY CAMPAIGN FMS ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY Date : 06 th April 2016 Page: 1 of 1 Dear Master, on the approach of the campaign. The campaign shall be champion, manage and driven by the junior officers. The nominated officers shall be empowered, briefed and guided as required to take ownership of the campaign and drive across the ships complement. The SMT (as advisors) shall provide all the required support and motivations to make the campaign meaningful. Campaign Background In 2012, FMS had launched ZETO policy in line with Corporate Safety rules. At that point of time, FMS safety policy were developed taking into consideration of common failures that had contributed to the past incidents in the shipping industries. Recently in 2016, to reflect both the ship and shore MISC staff equal commitments in our goals of NCIDENT, ZERO FMS have aligned the MISC Corporate Safety rules with the FMS Safety Rules. For further information, please refer to CTM issue 2016-02 - FMS Zero Tolerance Policy (10 safety rules) released to vessels on 5 th Feb 2016. Campaign Objective Provide a quick and simple guide, on changes in FMS Zero Tolerance Policy. The goal and purpose of the ZETO policy remain the same: Achieve a safe working environment with Zero harm to people, environment and assets. Avoid incidents and aim to improve the safety performance across the fleet. Campaign Methodology 1. Master to hold a brief meeting with the SMT to discuss the campaign strategies and nominate officers (2 nd Officers and 3 rd Engineer) to drive the campaign, bearing in mind the time frame allocated and vessel operations. Plan launching not later by 10th April 2016. 2. The SMT shall act in the capacity of advisors and launch the campaign. Upon launch, the appointed officers shall take over and drive the campaign, whereby they shall manage and run the campaign presentation materials provided herewith. SMT may guide the 2 nd Officers and/or 3 rd Engineer during the presentation and campaign period as and when required only. 3. The 2 nd Officers and 3 rd Engineer to request feedback from all sea staff on the campaign effectiveness, recommendation and/or improvement. Completed feedbacks by crew, reflective learning answers, launching/post campaign photos shall be updated in the feedback template. 4. Master to review and submit the feedback as described in the timeline to [email protected] 5.
