Chapter 4 User Management

This chapter introduces:

4.1 User Management Overview

User Management Overview, on Page 4-1 User Management Commands, on Page 4-2 Adding/Deleting a User, on Page 4-3

Definition

A user here refers to the person who operates and maintains the MA5605 through the CLI.

User management refers to setting of the authority, password, and Telnet permit for a user who logs in to the MA5605.

User authorities

Users are divided into three levels. Authorities vary with the levels. Users can only use onfiguration commands for their own level(s) or lower level(s).

General user

A general user can only check the system information, and use certain commands, such as cls.

Operator

An operator can make some basic system configurations.

Administrator

An administrator can manage the system. The root user is a super administrator, who can add or delete a user.

User attributes

c

The attributes of a user include:

User name

It consists of 1–19 characters. It is unique in the whole system.

Authority Log-in password

It consists of 1–119 characters.

6.1.3 Traffic Table

The traffic table is the core of traffic management. A traffic table contains such items as: Index

Service type Traffic type Traffic type parameters

You can add, delete and query a traffic table.

Through traffic items assigned to source and destination ends of a PVC, you can control PVC traffic.

Before setting up a service PVC, make sure that a qualified traffic item exists. If such a traffic item exists, you can specify its index directly to set up the service PVC. If such a traffic item does not exist, you need to add a table item. The index of this table item is assigned by the system.

6.1.4 Traffic Types

MA5605 supports four service types, corresponding to 13 traffic types, which comply with RFC2514.

You need to set parameters based on the traffic types.

Table 6–1 lists the traffic type and related parameters for the four service types.

Non-real-time Variable Bit Rate (nrt-VBR) is used for cfixed timing relationship between samples. Comprio ity than rt-VBR. Parameters required for serviceMBS and CDVT.

UBR service

Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) is used for servicesrequirement. UBR users only demand optimum network service, but reguarantee on quality of service (QoS). The network offers no QoS guaranteeservice. In the case of network congestion, UBR cells are the fircose
