BUILDING INFORMATION MODEL ( BIM )AND FABRICATION PROCESS
ADF has developed a Building InformationModeling ( BIM ) system centered around TeklaStructures 3D software.
• 3-D modeling and detailing integratedto the fabrication, assembly and ship-ping processes.
• Modeling & fabrication data linkeddirectly to the CNC equipment.
• In order to efficiently update the BIM,ADF uses specialized systems involved inthe fabrication, inspection and deliveryprocess, all of which communicate andinterface with Tekla Structures.
Our plant layouts are designed and are continu-ously improved to ensure an optimal and flow-ing movement between the various steps of thefabrication and the assembly.
• Capacity and efficiency in carrying outthe largest projects.
• Versatility to simultaneously handlecomplex structural steel projects ofvarious types.
• Efficiency in delivering modular steelcomponents, especially for industrialprojects.
•Flexibility to adapt production toclient needs.
• Large areas for trial and final assemblies.

ADF was selected to supply the connections engineering, the fabrication and the installation of over 10,500 tons ofheavy and complex structural steel required to build the
stadium, also known as the Ford Field stadium.
The installation of the dome represented a major engineer-ing challenge. The dome is comprised of three sections. The two lateral sections, each weighing over 3,000 tons, were first assembled on the stadium ground before beinghoisted 100 feet above the field with computer-assisted hy-draulic jacks system and fastened to the structure. The dome’smiddle section was then assembled on the top, bridging thetwo lateral sections.
