Screen Procedure

You can access the screen as shown in the figure provided in the left by using either of the following methods:

From the Favorite Conferences screen or the Conference History screen, select beside the conference.

From the Address Book screen, select two or more sites, and then select Create Conference.

From the previous screen, you can press the right arrow key consecutively to display the screen as shown in the left figure.

Select Advanced, and then set the parameters in the displayed Advanced screen. The following table describes the relevant parameters.

Parameter Description

Rate It specifies the bandwidth to be used for the conference.

With the built-in MCU enabled, a terminal can initiate a conference independently and no additional devices in the videoconferencing network are required. In this case, the following parameters do not need to be set.

Continuous presence It specifies the maximum number of site videos that can be viewed simultaneously during the conference. A conference held with a built-in MCU is a continuous presence conference by default, and therefore, you do not need to set the maximum number of site videos to be viewed. To disable the continuous presence function, select OFF.

Anonymous H.323 sites Anonymous PSTN sites Anonymous SIP sites

These parameters specify the numbers of H.323, PSTN, and SIP sites that can join the conference anonymously. An anonymous site is a site whose site number has not been defined. For example, if Anonymous H.323 sites is set to 5, five anonymous H.323 sites can join the conference; if it is set to 0, no anonymous H.323 site can join the conference.

Parameter Description

Conference control password

It specifies the conference access password that can be used in the following two ways:

During a conference, a site that wants to host the conference needs to enter this password to obtain the chair control rights.

An anonymous site needs to enter this password to join an authentication conference.

H.235 conference It specifies whether the H.235 security protocol needs to be used to encrypt media streams.

Insecure conference: All the information in the conference will not be encrypted. Secure media conference: Media streams will be encrypted.

Paying site It specifies who is paying for the conference. Local site: The local site pays for the conference. Another site: Another site pays for the conference. If this option is selected, you need to set Paying account and Paying password.

If the administrator sets Conference line type to SIP from the Conference screen, only Anonymous SIP sites and Conference control password are available.

4.3 Conference Control During a multipoint conference, you can use conference control functions to manage the video and audio of each participating site.

A point-to-point conference does not provide conference control functions.

The following sections take a conference named workshop as an example to describe the conference control functions. The following table lists the three sites and their roles in the conference.
