2Using the LMT of the GGSN9811About This Chapter

This part describes how to start, configure, log in to, and log out of the local maintenance terminal

    (LMT) of theGGSN9811.

2.1 Setting the IP Address of the LMT

This part describes how to set the IP address of the LMT by using the example that the LMT

and the GGSN9811 are connected though the local area network (LAN). When the LMT of the

GGSN9811 changes to another network segment, you need to set the IP address of the LMT of

    the GGSN9811.

2.2 Connecting the LMT to the GGSN9811This part describes how to connect the local maintenance terminal (LMT) to the GGSN9811 by

taking the local area network (LAN) as an example. When you log in to the LMT for the first

time, you need to perform this operation.

    2.4 Configuring the LMT

This part describes how to configure the local maintenance terminal (LMT), including the

maximum lines of the output messages, whether to automatically lock the LMT, timeout of man-

machine language (MML) commands, output command report to files, and saving of entered

    MML commands.

    2.5 Setting Office Information

This part describes how to set the office information on the local maintenance terminal (LMT),

including adding, modifying, and deleting an office.

    2.6 Locking the LMT

This part describes how to manually lock the local maintenance terminal (LMT). This is to

prevent unauthorized users from logging in to the LMT when the authorized operator is absent.

    2.7 Unlocking the LMT

This part describes how to unlock the local maintenance terminal (LMT).

    2.8 Running MML Commands

2.1 Setting the IP Address of the LMT

This part describes how to set the IP address of the LMT by using the example that the LMT

and the GGSN9811 are connected though the local area network (LAN). When the LMT of the

GGSN9811 changes to another network segment, you need to set the IP address of the LMT of

    the GGSN9811.

    Prerequisite

The new IP address, mask, and default gateway of the LMT are determined.

    Context

The principles for configuring the IP address of the LMT is as follows:

l When the LMT and the GGSN9811 are connected through a LAN, the IP address of theLMT must be in the same network segment as the virtual IP address of the external network

    of the GGSN9811.

l When the LMT and the GGSN9811 are connected through a router, the IP addresses can

    be in different network segments.

    Procedure

Step 1 Choose start> Settings> Control Panelon the computer where the LMT is installed. Then, select Network Connections.

Step 2 Select the local connection of the LMT of which the IP address is to reset. Then, right-click andchoose Properties. The Local Area Connection Propertiesdialog box is displayed. Refer to

    2.8 Running MML Commands

This part describes how to run the man-machine language (MML) commands. The local

maintenance terminal (LMT) of the GGSN9811 provides a man-machine interface based on the

MML command line. You can configure data for the GGSN9811 through visual and simple

graphic user interfaces (GUIs) to guarantee the normal running of the system.

    2.8.1 Introduction to MML Commands

Man-machine language (MML) commands are an operational means provided by the localmaintenance terminal (LMT) in addition to the graphic user interface (GUI). The GGSN9811

provides abundant MML commands, with which you can perform overall operation and

    maintenance to the system.

2.8.2 Introduction to the MML Command Operation Interface

The man-machine language (MML) command window of the local maintenance terminal (LMT)

consists of the menu, toolbar, status bar, and MML command area. The MML command area is

further divided into the following: the command navigation tree pane, the command display

area, the common maintenance/operation record/help information area, and the command and

    parameter input area.

2.8.3 Starting the MML Command Line

This part describes how to start the man-machine language (MML) command line when thecurrent window is not the window of the MML command line. Before running the MML

command, start the GGSN9811 MML command line. When the local maintenance terminal

(LMT) is started, the MML command line is started by default.

    2.8.4 Running an MML Command

This part describes how to run a man-machine language (MML) command in the MML

command line. This can facilitate routine configuration and maintenance.

    2.8.5 Batching MML Commands

This part describes how to batch the man-machine language (MML) commands. Batching MML

commands refer to that multiple MML commands are executed at one time. You can run the

edited batch files on the local maintenance terminal (LMT), eliminating the need to run an MMLcommand at one time.

    ADD IP: INTFN="ethernet1/0/0", IPADDR="10.10.10.1", MASK="255.255.255.0";

Here, the character string ADD IPbefore ":" is the keyword of the command; INTFN,

IPADDR, and MASKbefore "=" are parameters, which are separated by ","; ethernet1/0/0,

10.10.10.1, and 255.255.255.0behind "=" are parameter values. The whole command ends with
