DescriptionThe SmartControl 8 with Wi-Fi (SSC-W008) is part of the Savant SmartControl family designed to wirelessly provide infrared (IR) and serial control of third party devices.

The SSC-W008 simplifies retrofit installations including multi-dwelling units where wired installations may be physically and cost prohibitive. Moreover, the wireless Wi-Fi network topology eliminates the need to either remodel or rewire a residence or facility at the time of installation.

The SSC-W008 is an intelligent control product that connects with flat panel displays, DVD players, AV receivers, set-top boxes, projectors, lights, thermostats, window treatments, security systems, and other equipment commonly used in home automation and business installations.

The SSC-W008 is a solution for small installations controlling IR-based devices. The SSC-W008 can also be used for cost-effective control expansion—especially when additional IR control ports are required.

The SSC-W008 can be linked to any Savant SmartSystem™ containing a Savant Host—HST-series or SVR-series.

The SSC-W008 supports scanning of the Wi-Fi network for possible network choices and is able to select either the WPA1 or WPA2 security methods

NOTE: The SSC-W008 is not intended to function as a Wireless Access Point (WAP). A commercially available IEEE 802.11 b/g/n compliant WAP is required to communicate to the SSC-W008 device over a Local Area Network (LAN).
