    1.0 Scope of Service:

    We serve patients of both genders and all ages who will undergo Operation. Weprovide Quality Nursing Care to all patients 24 hours a day. Almost 9500patients per year submitted for operation. We maintain and preserve patientshealth, prevent complications, promote and support patients physiologicalneeds.

    Operating Room Department Main

    1.1 Layout of the Unit

    1.1.1 Location: Ground Floor Main Building

    1.1.2 Receiving Room: Receiving area for patients coming from theward or Accident and Emergency Department.

    1.1.3 Induction Room: For pre-anesthetic preparation of patientsawaiting for surgery, administration of Spinaland Epidural Anesthesia and Insertion ofIntravenous cannula.

    1.1.4 Nurses Station: Communication station: Extension 1040/1042

    Computer devices are availableIntero-office memos are posted

    1.1.5 Doctors Room: Room where surgeons write theirpostoperative surgical notes and orders.2 telephones are provided: Extension - 1038

    1.1.10 Dirty/Clean Utility Rooms

    1.1.11 Equipment Stock Room: 2 Microscopes3 TV Monitors1 orthopedic table with completeaccessories

    1.1.12 Changing Rooms: Dressing and Locker Rooms(1 for Male and 1 for Female)

    1.2.1 Types of Patients

    1. Ambulatory seen from the Out-Patient Department or Accidentand Emergency Department and admitted on or the day of surgery.

    2. In-Patients admitted in the ward on or before the day ofsurgery.

    3. Day Cases admitted during the day of the surgery and will bedischarged several hours post-operatively on the same day.

    4. Emergency and Urgent Cases patients come from the Accidentand Emergency Department and may be directly brought to OR forsurgery or admitted first in the ward and procedure done in fewhours later.

    5. Special Cases elective cases but scheduled after the OPD timeor during Fridays. e.g. Cardiac and Plastic surgery cases.

    1.2.2 Pre and Post Specialties

    Patients admitted in the OR Department for surgical interventionvary from surgical specialties as follows:

    1.1.10 Utility Rooms: Where dirty or used instruments areplaced after the surgery.

    1.1.12 Changing Rooms: Dressing and Locker Rooms(1 for Male and 1 for Female)
