Course Name: BSS Essentials Course (BSSESS) 

Target Group: BSS Engineering Support, Network SurveillancePersonnel, NOC Configuration Personnel. 

Course Objectives:  At the end of the course the participant will be able to:

• Identify and describe the BSS network elements

• Describe the passage of a circuit and a packetswitched call through the BSS.

• Perform basic TCSM2 operation

• Explain NOKIA Base Station solutions

• Describes the functions of the BSC, its capacityand configuration.

• Describe the BSS Radio Network Object Model

• Identify and describe the Radio Networkparameters

• Modify and interrogate the radio network by MML,including adjacent cells

•  Describe the concepts of RNW configurationmanagement and the representation of radionetwork parameters in the NOKIA networkmanagement system NetAct

• 2x Base Stations (Type of Base Stations to be agreed case by case)

• 2x Mobile Phones and 2x SIM cards registered in HLR

• BSC, TCSM2e and BTS Manuals available - either on paper or NED

Software version • BSC with Software actual softtware

• All Change deliveries installed

• Latest BTS SW

Functionality• Cell ID and Location Area ID for both BTS set-up in the MSC

• Both speech and CCS7 channels set-up in MSC

• Test calls should be possible

• 4 MML sessions (local or remote) are simultaneously possible

• BSC SW package where all network elements mentioned here arealready installed, a package, which can be used for the course anddeleted afterwards.
