Robert, Bobbie and Tom can provide St. Petersburg with a fresh start with new faces leading the city’s government. They can make local government work better to serve the community by implementing common sense solutions to fight crime, protect neighborhoods from excessive redevelopment, preserve the environment, demand transparency and accountability from the mayor’s office and city council and create a clear vision for Tropicana Field. As the largest city in Pinellas, St Petersburg receives most of the media attention and is often erroneously held out as representing the politics of the entire county. Having more balanced representation at City Hall will benefit Republicans across the county and give candidates in other municipality’s encouragement to run for office. You do not have to be a resident of St. Petersburg to volunteer in these campaigns. All three candidates will welcome your help to knock on doors, to make phone calls and to deliver signs. In addition, financial donations are always needed. This is a great opportunity to stop the Democrats’ poor stewardship of local government. Please take advantage of it. Todd A. Jennings, Esq. Congratulations to St. Petersburg Mayoral Candidate Robert Blackmon and City Council candidates Bobbie Shay Lee (District 1)and Tom Mullins (District 4) for advancing in the St. Petersburg Primary Elections to secure spots on the ballot in the November 2, 2021, General Election. Robert, Bobbie and Tom can provide St. Petersburg with a fresh start

with new faces leading the city’s government.

Turn on the tv during the last 20 months, and you can’t miss it. The policies implemented by progressive prosecutors around the nation are causing a rise in violent crime. Since being elected, these progressive prosecutors have refused to charge criminals for shoplifting, vagrancy and entire categories of misdemeanors, including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and making criminal threats. These progressive prosecutors have refused to enforce minimum mandatory sentencing, three-strike laws and other enhancements which target violent felony offenders. This amounts to a betrayal of the public trust and have made our communities less safe.

This failure in policy has had an impact across the nation. Last year, the United States suffered a 25% increase in murder, the largest single-year rise in history and the highest level since the 1990s. Let’s look at some jurisdictions where these progressive prosecutors have been elected. Philadelphia has had its number of murders rise over 40% since its progressive DA Larry Krasner took office, and this year murder in Philadelphia is on pace to rise again over 30%.

Philadelphia is no anomaly. Last year, murder rose 50% in Chicago, 38% in Los Angeles and 44% in New York City with the amount of gun crimes rising more than 90%. This is only looking at the murder rates. If murder is up, common sense tells us about the rate of other violent crimes.

Luckily, here in Pinellas County we do not have a progressive State Attorney, a progressive Sheriff or progressive police chiefs. Here, violent offenders face minimum mandatory sentences, as well as sentencing enhancers and the like to ensure violent offenders are off the streets and in prison.

Let’s look at the stats here locally. Overall, Pinellas County had a combined crime rate decline of 15.7 %, the biggest drop in the seven-county Tampa Bay Region between 2019 and 2020. More specifically, the number of murders dropped from 40 in 2019 to 27 in 2020. Pinellas County and the State of Florida

have a 50-year low in crime overall.

Luckily for us, the rule of law is still protected and followed in Pinellas County. Let’s work together to keep it that way by supporting the officials that make this happen.

Election supervisor to speak at next PCREC

Election integrity is the bedrock of a Democratic Republic, and every citizen should be confident his/her vote is counted. With voting irregularities having occurred in other parts of the county in the 2020 Presidential Election, Florida is fortunate to have had voting laws in place to protect our voters and insure fair elections. That being said, many people still have questions about the process and about the safeguards provided by the Supervisor of Elections office.

At the September 13 PCREC meeting, Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Julie Marcus will provide answers to

those questions and reassure voters of the fairness of Pinellas County elections. She has more than 18 years of experience with the Supervisor of Elections office, serving as Chief Deputy since 2012 and as Supervisor since 2019. She has administered 300 municipal elections, and 21 countywide elections; conducted 13 machine recounts, 12 manual recounts, 35 post-election manual audits and implemented two new voting systems.

North Pinellas Republican Club tends to section of Pinellas Trail

In conjunction with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, North Pinellas Republican Club (NPRC) has adopted a one-mile stretch of the Pinellas Trail in Tarpon Springs. Giving meaning to the idea that the root word of “conservation” is “conservative,” NPRC is not only helping the environment by keeping the one-mile section clean, it is demonstrating to the local community in a very visible way that the Republican Party supports a healthy environment. Every other month, NPRC volunteers pick up and dispose of trash along the adopted stretch of trail. They completed the first cleanup August 7, with eight volunteers joining in, after which the volunteers met at Tarpon Tavern for lunch and beverages. This adoption is a win-win situation for any Republican Club as it provides free positive advertising with signage on both ends of the adopted trail section, as well as many “thank yous” from car drivers and passengers, cyclists, and neighbors.

In order to truly make a difference in the community, we must first be present in the community and, furthermore, encourage healthy conversations regarding our current political climate. The North Pinellas Political Activities Committee has been fully engaged with voter registration efforts, as well as with getting conservative candidates on the ballot by collecting petition signatures. This often involves setting up tables at local libraries and even some monthly community festivals here in north county. We have nearly 110 local events

scheduled, and we are currently just a little over one-third of the way through that list. With the help of many volunteers, I am proud to announce that we have collected almost 3,000 signatures and have even assisted with a large handful of voter registrations. Rest assured, there is always something for somebody to do, and it goes without saying, if we are going to make a change, we must get to work!

CHERIE DENHAM:

RPOF Regional Field Director Cherie Denham is a second generation Tampa native who attended Oldsmar Christian School. Before getting into politics, Cherie spent 16 years working for Hillsborough County as a fourth generation county employee. In 2014,

she had an awakening and realized America was heading down the wrong path and felt the pull to get involved. In late 2016, a friend encouraged her to get involved with the local Republican Party, and since then she has volunteered with several local campaigns. In June 2019, she co-hosted a Trump campaign training. Later that year, she became a neighborhood team leader and then was hired full-time in October. Cherie completed this journey in January 2021 with the Senate races in Georgia.

Cherie knows many Republican voters are concerned their vote will not count in future elections. She understands their concerns and frustrations but reminds voters Democrats will still show up to the polls and that they lead in voter registration. She notes, however, the voter registration margin in Florida is so close that if every Republican Executive Committee member across the state registered just one new Republican, the Florida margin could be flipped immediately. She emphasizes voter registration is the key to victory and says If you can read and write, you can register people to vote. She invites anyone who would like to be trained in voter registration, and thus help Republicans win back the House and Senate and keep the Governor’s Mansion, to contact her at cdenham@flvictory.
