Does the rough draft-- Have at least 3 pages of text with

Check the works cited page to make sure the page itself and the entries conform to MLA requirements.

Indicate any mistakes you notice on the

works cited page and initial Step #4 when you are finished. Compare it to the example handout.

1. Count the number of different sources used in each paragraph, excluding the intro and conclusion, and write this number to the left of each paragraph. Don’t forget that some sources might be mentioned in the actual sentence.

2. Find the average number of different sources used for each body paragraph and write this on Step #5, and initial Step #5.

1. Carefully edit the paper for all mechanics. This includes, but is not limited to, comma usage, sentence construction, phrasing, word choice, complete paragraphs, avoidance of person pronouns, effective use/anchoring of quotations, etc

2. Make any suggested corrections IN THE MARGINS and initial Step #6.

1. Does the thesis statement exhibit parallel structure? If yes, initial Step #7. If no, put your heads together and figure it out so it does exhibit parallel structure, correct it on the rough draft, and initial step #7.

2. Is the thesis specific enough that you know what you will be reading? If yes, initial step #7 a second time. If no, write what the problem is on the rough draft and initial step #7 a second time.

1. Identify at least 3 well executed transition sentences and underline them. Remember, these should be in the middle of paragraphs, too. They should definitely be at the end of each paragraph!

2. Initial Step #8 if you are able to complete it. If not, suggest where transitions are needed on the draft and initial Step #8.

1. Read the paper and evaluate how convincing it is.

2. Write a thoughtful paragraph that offers positive feedback on what works in the paper and constructive criticism on where it can be improved.

3. Initial next to your response paragraph. Write this at the end of the paper.

1. Make sure the rough draft and works cited page conforms to MLA format. There are rulers available to help you out on this. Don’t automatically assume the margins are 1 inch.

2. If the paper conforms, initial Step #10. If it does not conform, make any suggested on the rough draft, write “corrections needed” on Step #10, and initial Step #10.

◦Does it end with the thesis statement?
