Background
Wisconsin totals around 650,000 tons of food waste annually
Disposal of waste cost between $10-$50
Anaerobic digestion decrease disposal cost
Limitation is due to high cost of digestion technology
Objectives
Test Period: Test various waste steams for biogas
production and quality Determine the impact of storage
Post Testing: Develop a facility management plan
for handling annual waste Develop guidelines for other facilities
Project Processing Facility
Del Monte in Cambria, WI Canning between June and October Peas: 1 truckload/ day for 25 days Beans: 50 to 60 tons/day for 75 days Corn: 600 tons/day for 60 days
