The smart choiceAluminum window and door systems come in a multitude of designs and functions to suit the requirements of the design specification, airflow and energy efficiency.
Choosing the correct window system to suit your climate is one of the most cost effective investments you can make to keep your home comfortable and quiet all year round.
What most people do not know is that most of the heat gained or cool lost in your home is through the windows and doors. The window system, glass selection and components used all effect the energy performance of your home.
Aluminum Windows and doors feature a long lasting extruded aluminum frame combined with glass to provide an energy efficient light source and breeze path for both domestic and commercial applications.
The aluminum frames are powder-coated or anodised to improve both the look and durability of the finished product, ensuring a long maintenance free life of the window system.
The glass infill panels are available in many types, specific to the application. Glass can also be treated to improve the shading co-efficient and ultra violet light transmission of the window, improving the energy efficiency of the system.

In these days of ever increasing costs of power and government legislation it is critical to make the correct glass selections to maximise both personal comfort and the drain on the family budget over the life of your house.
Bradnams Windows and Doors by DABSCO offer many glass options for all budgets giving choices in colour and performance that will provide energy savings that will last a lifetime.
Dark Grey SolarblockDABSCO’s standard toned glass offers considerable extra strength over standard clear annealed glass and provide up to a 67% reduction in UV rays a 30% reduction in heat gain and 50% reduction in glare meaning a significant lessening in potential damage to curtains, carpet and furniture which will also provide a substantial reduction in cooling costs.
Sunergy GlassSunergy Glass is an energy efficient glazing solution for residential homes, units and commercial building applications. Sunergy glass is unique when compared to ordinary clear glass in that it performs two distinct functions:
• it stops a large proportion of the suns direct heat from entering through the window;
• it also has a special hard and durable coating (called Low-E) which gives added insulation, similar in the way roof or wall insulation works.This means that Sunergy glass keeps the home cooler in Summer and warmer in winter saving on energy cooling and heating costs.
Added protection from the harsh effects of the sun is also another important feature of Sunergy providing a 72% reduction in UV rays.Unlike traditional tinted glass which works by restricting the level of light coming into the home, Sunergy glass has a unique filter that allows higher levels of natural light but still stopping direct heat from entering. Information and Advice for Windows and Doors
Bradnams Windows and Doors and DABSCO are proud to offer a 7 year Guarantee on windows and doors and a 3 year guarantee on any moving parts (terms and conditions apply) but like any manufactured product it is important that windows and doors are subject to a maintenance program.
Maintenance of powder coated Aluminium finishesCleaning is desirable if the fine finish of powder coated aluminium is to be preserved. Deterioration of the coating occurs mainly as a result of grime deposition and attack by contaminated moisture which in a coastal environment contains sulphur compounds and chlorides.
Regular cleaning is desirable, with the frequency dependant on the severity of the environment and due consideration to the level of dust, grime, pollution, salt and other possible corrosive factors which may adversely affect your screens.
As a general rule, in an urban environment, we recommend cleaning every 3 to 4 months and in a rural environment we recommend cleaning every 4 to 6 months.
In an industrial or marine environment, more frequent cleaning (monthly) is necessary and the maximum period between cleaning should never be more than 3 months.
As a general rule powder coated aluminium should be cleaned using a non abrasive mild detergent solution. Thoroughly rinse the surface after cleaning to remove all residues.
Maintenance of glassAll glass surfaces should be kept clean by prompt removal of dirt. Clean water should be used and in some instances the additive of a small amount of mild detergent may be of some benefit.
• Thoroughly wash off any detergent residue with clean water.
• DO NOT under any circumstances use any form of abrasive cleaner as this may cause damage to the glass.
• Lightly sponge off any stubborn dirt being careful not to scratch glass.
Maintenance of HardwareGeneral periodic maintenance is required on all hardware supplied such as locks, hinges, catches and closers.
External finish of all hardware must be kept clean by removing any harmful residue (particularly salt spray) from the surface using a non abrasive cleaner.
Internal working of locks , catches etc. should be kept in good working order by applying a light spray of lubricant such as silicone spray or graphite powder (do not use products like WD40 or RP7 as these are residual).
Maintenance of Window and Door RollersRemove the sliding panel of the product from the inside of the house . With the window or door partly open lift the sliding panel up into the head while tilting the bottom of the panel towards you, out and over the sill. Slide the panel downwards to remove it from the frame.
• Use a vacuum cleaner with a narrow nozzle to clean the track thoroughly.
• Use a soft rag and water mixed with a mild detergent to wipe the track and rollers.
• It is important that rollers are cleaned 3-4 times a year and lubricated lightly with silicone spray 15

Why is Crimsafe® arguably the best security screening systems available?
Only Crimsafe Screw-Clamps security mesh to the frame with tamper-resistant screws that go right through a metal clamp, through the mesh and into the frame. This gets repeated every 125mm around the frame.
304 grade Tensile-Tuff® Stainless Mesh not only makes our product the best looking screen on the market, the 0.9mm thick strand that makes up the mesh is 26.5% thicker on the cross section than other stainless security mesh available. This ensures that it is harder to cut or penetrate. 304 grade stainless steel is stronger and less brittle than 316, whilst maintaining the corrosion resistant qualities.
Durable Coating developed by Crimsafe and Dulux is a highly durable coating which further reduces corrosion, reduces the buildup of airborne particles which makes it easier to clean the mesh and helps to ensure your screen maintains its permanent good looks.

The Crimsafe Screw Clamp1. The patented screw-clamp and hook feature transfers the force of an impact
around the frame, so the mesh remains intact and the unit is able to withstand enormous impacts.
2. Tamper-resistant screws, exclusive to Crimsafe Licensees, are driven right through clamp and mesh and into the frame, to give unsurpassed strength.
3. Crimsafe uses our own specially developed 304 grade 0.9mm “Tensile Tuff” security mesh, because it is more suited to security applications than other meshes.
4. The Crimsafe clamp and frame have special teeth designed to match the woven profile of the mesh and “bite down” on it with a vice-like grip.
5. Specially designed 3M insulation tape keeps water out to totally resist corrosion.

Crimsafe fixed window panels are non-moving panels that can be face fitted, reveal fitted using their angled frame, or they can be fixed in the insect screen track of your window.

Due to the strength of Crimsafe’s patented system and its ability to absorb high impact, Crimsafe can be used as an integral part of a property’s Cyclone protection plan of protecting window and door openings:

Tests carried out on Crimsafe screens for Fire Attenuation show a rating for attenuation of radiant heat flux of 45%. Meaning almost half of the heat from a fire source on the other side of the screen does not transfer through Crimsafe mesh.

Instructions for CareDue to the woven mesh design, Crimsafe can trap airborne dirt and impurities, just like a fly-screen, and over time these can give it a stained appearance. A quick clean will remove these marks and leave it looking like new.
Crimsafe® mesh will not rust as it is made from 304 Grade Stainless Steel which has a lifespan of approximately 65 years. Crimsafe mesh is prepared using a high grade pre-treatment and is coated with a high durability commercial grade UV fade-resistant black powder coating that ensures the good looks and long life of your product. The anti-static powder coating actively works against the buildup of airborne particles and makes cleaning easier. Providing the underlying pre-treatment remains intact, Crimsafe mesh will not rust.
Regular maintenance involves a wash down of the mesh and frames. It is recommended to use Crimsafe Wash and Wax combined with warm water. Lightly scrub the screen with a soft bristle brush and then rinse/hose with clean water.
As a guide to how frequently you should clean your Crimsafe product use the following table:

The Crimsafe General Warranty Crimsafe Security Systems warrants the original owner of a Crimsafe Security Product for defective materials under the conditions of normal use for a period of ten years from the date of installation. All moving parts (without limitation) such as hinges, door closers, locks, wheels and installation are covered by a relevant manufacturer or supplier’s warranty.
In order to prolong the life of the Crimsafe product and to maintain your rights under this general warranty, you must follow the care and maintenance advice provided on this page and in the customer care brochure.

Shower screens and mirror are manufactured with tempered or laminated glass which ensures safety in wet slippery environments such as bathrooms. If broken, the glass will either shatter into very small non jagged pieces or be held together with a plastic laminated sheet. This will ultimately reduce the chance of severe cuts and injury.
Preventative CareAs an optional extra, we can apply Enduro Shield which is a protective, invisible coating that repels water, soap scum and grime.
It is effective in the long term maintenance of shower and mirror surfaces because of its repelling properties. Enduro Shield is revolutionary as it ensures that shower or bath enclosure glass remains as clean and shiny as the day it was bought, with the least possible effort.

Cleaning The safest cleaner for a mirror or shower screen is clean, warm water used with a soft cloth. An approved glass cleaner such as Windex or similar products may be used. Be careful not to allow the edges of the mirror to get or remain wet over a period of time.
• Do not use any acid or alkali cleaners. They can attack both the surface and edges as well as the backing of the mirror. And never use an abrasive cleaner on any glass surface.
• Do not use cleaners with heavy ammonia bases. These too can damage mirror edges and backing and result in a ruined mirror.
• Never spray any cleaner directly on to a mirror. Instead, apply the cleaner to a soft cloth and then wipe the mirror. This will also prevent “puddling” at the mirror edge where the cleaner could attack the backing.
• Always use soft, grit-free cloths when cleaning a mirror to reduce chances of scratching the surface.
• Be sure to dry all joints and edges thoroughly to be certain no cleaner comes in contact with the edge and backing.
• Routine cleaning maintenance can be accomplished simply and effectively by washing, rinsing and drying the mirror and shower screen.
