Scholarship/Leadership Award
• High school senior (female) accepted at a 4-year College/University who will be an incoming college freshman student
• Woman continuing or returning to a 4-year College/University working toward a degree or certification
• Enrolled for training in a technical school or returning to school after an absence to retrain job skills or obtain a degree. [Post secondary students at any educational level];
• Enrolled in an online course through an Accredited College/University/ Vocational school or an accredited program by an accredited agency to be eligible for online tuition credit.
• Resident of East Contra Costa County• Demonstrated leadership experience• A minimum non-weighted cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
Application Packet Requirements:
• Name, address, phone number(s) and email address• Resume with leadership positions held and organizations, including volunteer
and paid positions• Two (2) letters of recommendation• Signed transcript. A stamped signature is acceptable; but a signature is
required. Transcripts without a signature cannot be accepted and applications without signed transcript will not be considered.
• Transcript must also include: Current GPA score Write an 800 - 1,000-word thoughtful, well-crafted essay based on the designated topic: Is Our Election Process Fair? Why or Why not?
• Elaborate specifically on your opinions and justify your convictions.
Essays will be scored on the basis of how effectively it communicates the entire message to the readers for the stated purpose. Your score will be based on your ability to express, organize and support your opinions and ideas.
