We are a nurturing and open church to all who enter into our Sanctuary.

We base our ministry on the Word of God and a caring spirit. Jesus

invites us to share our ministry to all that come into our church.

“To make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the

Transformation of the World”

From the Pastor’s DeskBeloved In Christ,

Happy New Year’s to you. Speaking of New Year’s, I’m not normally in the habit of making New Year’s Resolutions. It has always seemed a little strange to me to wait until New Year’s to make a change that we could do any time of the year.

But I do love the reflection that we have during this time of the year. As we look back over the year, examine what the year has brought to us and reflect on who we have been this year. Sometimes when we examine our lives closely over the past year it can be an eye opening spiritual enterprise for us.

In the busyness of our daily lives sometimes we forget to reflect on whether or not we are living the way we want to live. So sometimes during this season of making resolutions it does give us a chance to take a closer look at ourselves to see how well or not so well we spent our time and money, how well or not so well we offered ourselves to help others, and how well or not so well we loved others.

We will find that it is only after we are honest with ourselves about how we really are can we then begin making positive steps towards who we want to be. This is how God wants us to present ourselves to him. God doesn’t care about what kind of great image we can present to him or to the world. Jesus did not come into the world to seek out those who were perfect. He says, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call those who think they are righteous, but to those who know they are sinners.” (Mark 2:17).

So during this New Year’s, let us all present ourselves to God as we really are, faults and all. When we do, we can trust that God’s grace will be there to heal us. Then we can move on to becoming who we want to be.

Blessings,

Pastor Ken

Thank you for all of the donations that were given for the firefighters in Oconee County battling the wildfires in upstate South Carolina. A huge tub of items were delivered to the UMC Greenwood District office from Trinity. I spoke with Dr. Love and he was very impressed by our kindness. Trinity also made a donation to the Disaster Relief Fund to help with the devastation in the Lowcountry left over from the hurricane. We should be proud of our ministry in this area. It is always a blessing to be able to give.

The Youth will participate in the January Journey Youth Night on Jan. 22 at Zion. The Trinity youth have been assigned to do a skit. Come see the Trinity youth actors!

Also, the youth in the Greenwood District are collecting old bicycles to be sent overseas. If you have an old bicycle to donate, please see Foster Senn.

The Men’s Club invites all men, regardless of membership at Trinity, to attend their meetings. No meeting was held in December due to the joint Christmas get together with the UMW. We had a very good meal with games afterwards. It was the men against the women. The Men’s Club trounced the UMW and has bragging rights until next year. The next meeting will be Wednesday, January 4. Cooks will be Michael Bouknight, Harry Longshore, Steve Morris, William Johnson and Johnnie Pitts.

THE SIGHTS OF CHRISTMAS AT TRINITY 2016

Top Row: Lisha Senn presents Susan Longshore with the UMW Christian Leadership Award. Our beautiful Chrismon tree and poinsettias adorn the sanctuary.

Middle Row: David Hendrix and June Pitts were decorated as Snowmen. The WOMEN won this contest. The Children did a great job with their narrated Christmas Program.

Bottom left: When blindfolded and asked to draw a Christmas Tree with ornaments and a star, a mantel hung with stockings and presents under the tree, this is what it looked like when Rev. Carter (Men’s Club) and Susan Longshore(UMW) finished. I think you can see why the MEN won this contest but Susan did a great job too. Try it blindfolded and see how you do!

A New Year’s PrayerDear Lord, please give me a few friends who understand me and remain my friends; A work to do which has real value, without which the world would be the poorer; A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed; An understanding heart; A sense of humor; Time for quiet, silent meditation; A feeling of the presence of God; The patience to wait for the coming of these things, With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
