Crèche Attendant – Katanning Leisure Centre
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person who enjoys working with children and has an interest in developing their skills in childcare and recreation services to work within a dynamic and vibrant team.
This position will be responsible for the effective daily operations of the crèche.
Situated in the heart of the Great Southern region, Katanning offers the perfect mix of picturesque country location with conveniences of city living. Excellent schools, hospital, doctors, dentist, shopping, community and sporting facilities are available in town.

SHIRE PROFILE
Katanning is located 283kms south of Perth in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. The Shire of Katanning has 9 elected members and employs approximately 65 staff. Emphasis is placed on working together and recognising that every individual, regardless of the type of work they do, makes a valuable contribution to building a better community for Katanning.
The Shire of Katanning is undertaking several transformational projects including the development of a new welcome precinct and visitor facilities, man-made lake and residential land development, early childhood and community facilities and a new Shire administration building.
Significant industries include the sheep saleyards, CBH grain handling facilities, export abattoir, major transport operators and agribusinesses.
The town has a range of key facilities including supermarkets, cafes, retailers, regional hospital, childcare, primary schools, senior high school and TAFE.

2. Position Objectives / Purpose In conjunction with the Katanning Leisure Centre Manager, be responsible for the effective daily
operations of the crèche. To work as part of a team, to provide and foster a quality, safe, hygienic and stimulating
environment for children attending the Katanning Leisure Centre crèche. To interact positively with children/parents and encourage their participation and use of the service. Provide a high level of customer service relating to the entries, memberships and programs run at
the Katanning Leisure Centre. Assist with set up and packing up.
3. Key Responsibilities & Duties Provide a high level of customer service to the Katanning Leisure Centre users at all times In conjunction with the Katanning Leisure Centre Manager, ensure the day to day operations of the
crèche are monitored and maintained and that regular reports are provided to the KLC Manager. To operate the crèche within agreed policies and procedures that ensures compliance to all relevant
laws and regulations. To ensure the environment in which children are cared for is clean, hygienic and safe. To ensure all interactions with children, parents and members of the public are positive and reflect
the policies of Council. To be sensitive to and respect the diversity of social and cultural backgrounds of children in care and
ensure these children are welcomed to the crèche. To work as an effective team member. To promote the crèche in a positive manner to parents and ensure processes for staff/parent
interactions are in place so that parents are kept well informed. To maintain a professional approach to work which reflects the Katanning Leisure Centre philosophy,
policies and procedures and ensures confidentiality in all aspects of crèche operations. To attend training as required and keep up to date and informed of the relevant legal requirements
relating to working in the Chid Care Industry. Supervise and assist when necessary any duties/activities required of you from the
Administration/Youth Programs Officer or KLC Manager. Provide support to senior staff when requested for set up and clean-up of functions/events. Provide cleaning when required.
4. General Any other duties consistent with the level of this position.

5. Records Management To ensure electronic information and records are managed according to the WA State Records Act
2000 and other relevant legislation in consultation with the Senior Admin/ Records Officer as appropriate to position.
6. Behaviour and Conduct: Perform duties efficiently, responsibly and ethically and in accordance with the Shire’s Code of
Conduct. Contribute positively to the team and support team efforts. Ensure that you maintain and enhance the reputation of Shire of Katanning at all times.
7. Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management Responsibilities Perform work in a safe and healthy manner and abide by the Shire’s and legislated safe work
procedures, instructions and safety management practices. Correct or report unsafe situations, workplace incidents, accidents or damage and use safety
equipment and devices as specified. Participate in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety. Use appropriate personal protective equipment as directed. Comply with the Shire’s Risk Management Policy Procedures. Must comply with the Council Work Injury Management Program.

REMUNERATION DETAILS
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS Location The position is based at the Katanning Leisure CentreIndustrial agreement Local Government Industry Award 2010, Salary $26.14 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)Hours of work Varies Employment Basis Casual
Superannuation Superannuation of up to 12.5% based on 9.5% superannuation guarantee contributions and up to an additional 3% contingent upon the employee contributing 5%. Salary Sacrifice is available on the employee’s contributions.
Police Clearance The successful applicant will be required to provide a National Police Clearance.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Creche Attendant
Selection Criteria Basic time management and organisational skills. Reasonable verbal and written communication skills. Ability to liaise and cooperate with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Experience in working with Primary School aged children. Experience in working with children from 0 – 4 years of age. Ability to work in a team environment. Working with Children's Check. Current First Aid. Sound knowledge of the Sport & Recreation Industry. Certificate III in Child Care or studying towards a relevant qualification in Child Care or Teaching. Computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher & Outlook). Knowledge of current issues in Child Care. Current “C” class driver’s License.
