What’s the game called? What platform is it for? What is the world like? Who/what is the main character? What are the players in the background that don’t play like? What’s the point of the game? What rewards do you get whilst playing? How do you know where to go next?

What is the world like? = the world in GTA V is very good the graphics are extremely lifelike and the world is huge with a lot of places to go, and thing to do, for example here are some of the things you can do, obviously you can do the career mode which is a lot of heists and bank robberies etc. but if you wanted to free roam you could some things like play tennis, golf.

What/who is the main character? = in the career mode of GTA V there are three different characters that you use at different times to do individual missions with, sometimes they all do a mission together and you control what each one of them does individually. The three characters are called Michael, Franklin and Trevor. They all have their individual houses, garages and cars. You can control what cars that you want to put in your garage and you can buy these from your mobile phone. Also you can customise your cars by upgrading engine, colour and even horn and a lot of other things too. But when you play the online version of GTA V you have to design your own character

What are the players in the background that don’t play like?

Here is a screenshot of what some of the people in the background look like. They look very similar to the actual characters except they haven’t got quite as much detail. But actually they do have a lot of detail for background characters.

What’s the point of the game?

The point of the game is to complete it up to 100% by doing the missions in career mode and doing the little outside missions and activities for example there are 50 stunt jumps hidden around the map that you have to find and then do to a good enough standard to complete. In career mode there are a total of 69 main story line missions. These range from robbing a bank, to delivering items to people. There is also an online mode where you can complete missions and races with your crew or random players to earn you money and XP so you get to a higher level and are able to buy better things e.g. houses, cars clothes etc. So overall the main point of this game it to try and complete to maximum percentage 100% by doing all of the necessary things, to do this it would take a great deal of time. I researched the time it would take to complete the game and people have been putting around 40 hours of game time.

What reward do you get whilst playing the game? = whilst playing the offline career mode the rewards you get are is money so that you can buy new thing like clothes for your character, cars planes, helicopters and even tanks. And you buy accessories to upgrade your car and paint work, also guns and all sorts of different weapons ranging from knives to firework launchers.

How does the game give you feedback, for example where to go next? = During the career mode of GTA V you get a mobile phone that you can receive texts emails and phone calls from in game characters. They call you to ask you to do missions for them. Also when you are in the pause menu and you’re on the map, if there are any available missions there will be a letter in a certain place that you can set a way point to and go and investigate. Also in the pause menu there is a stats screen that shows you what missions that you have completed and what percentage of the game you have completed.

Have I linked my explanations to specific game examples? = I haven’t really linked my game to specific in game missions but I have linked it to in game screenshots and I have also mentioned the different modes that you are able to play.

What perspective is the game? = GTA V perspective is set in 3rd person. But when you are in a car driving you change which view you are in to suit your style of driving. You can also change the view that are in when walking, it is still in 3rd person but you can get further away and closer to the character.

How addictive is the game? GTA V is a very addictive game because people want to complete the missions so they can get more money to be able to buy new and better things. They also want to play the game a lot so that they can explore the whole map and all the things that it has to offer. Like the airports, building site, military base, police stations etc. The online mode is also very addicting to people because when they play with their friends they want to become a higher levels than their mates so that they can have better cars and weapons than them.

Concerns: there are always a lot of concerns of excess playing time of computer games you hear it in the news quite a bit. The worry when people are glued playing their consoles 24/7 for so long that they change their sleeping pattern so that they sleep in the day and wake up and night and play their consoles all night, is that they are harming their own health because they are inside all day without getting any fresh air what so ever and rarely seeing any daylight, another factor is their social life will be very lacking because they don’t get out of their house the only people that they will talk to is people that live in the same house and perhaps people that are playing the same game as you. Also you will be rather separated from reality because you will always be inside on the game rather than out socialising with people. If children are playing the latest games out then they don’t earn very much money and probably just get a pocket money allowance the problem with this is that the latest are very expensive so all the children’s pocket money will just be being spent on games. Another negative point of being addicted to video games and playing them constantly can affect your eyesight in the long run because you will be used to looking at everything close up and then when you stop playing your eyes will find it harder to focus on long range things.

Education benefits: although there are a lot things that are against being stuck on computer games constantly there can also be some benefits of this for example, people say that if you play a lot of computer games it will improve things like your hand eye coordination, your braining training/reaction times. It also would make you think about things in real life more than they would without playing the game before because some games are so strategy based. A positive point of this would be that if you become very good at playing these games you can get sponsored and paid money to play the game. Also if you play computer games regularly then a benefit would be that you’d be able to beat all your friends (if you have any) another advantage of being addicted to computer games is that you have you can socialise with a lot of other people on the internet.

Each year FIFA tries to make a lot of improvements, like they added the ultimate team five years ago in FIFA 09. They also make a great improvement to the graphics; they even scanned individual’s player’s faces for the game.

A first person shooter genre game would be: Call Of Duty

Each year call of duty tries to improve their game by adding new things such as the in game option to play ‘zombies’ or ‘survival’. That is different modes of gameplay.

A type of Simulation genre game would be SIMs.

OS X, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, Android, iOS, and Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS.

Sims has been developed greatly since it was first brought out 14 years ago. The latest game is called Sims 4. And the graphics have been improved hugely. They also added the

options to play online with other people.

This game never was devolved any further but the game included a lot of things like find out the age of your brain and things like that.

Battlefield was first brought out in 2002 and the latest game ios called battlefield 4. There has been many developments such as graphics, weapons, gameplay etc. also the option to play online against other people which is very popular.

Six psychological factors that can affect users when they play computer games.

A first example would be the use of sound from the games for example some player like to use headsets for the gameplay sound, this could seriously affect the players hearing if the volume is too loud especially as they are playing it so often. It also could be dangerous because the headsets block out all other sound so they would not be able to hear if somebody needed them in an emergency. Another factor could be from peer pressure, for example your friends could peer pressure you into playing the games all the time even when you don’t want to, they can do this by saying things like ‘I bet I can beat you’ or you are rubbish if you aren’t come and prove it’. Also the expectations of new games are going to be coming out have a big effect on society because everybody will see the advertisements etc. and want to be able to try the game out as soon as its released therefore will pre-order the game or buy it as soon as possible. A positive effect that this could have on individuals is the educational value that you can get from playing a lot of video games such as better hand eye coordination, quicker reaction times etc. The amount of fun and enjoyment of playing a game is going to have an effect on society because if there is a game that has high

enjoyment levels then more people are going to be addicted to it therefor the game maker will sell a lot more copies of the game. The last effect that I think has a strong impact on individuals being addicted to computer games would be the games levelling; this means that people are addicted to certain games because they want to get to higher levels so they can unlock better and new things.
