Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) are looking for a fixed term Dietitian to join our friendly, innovative primary care team in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, working for Leicestershire Partnership Trust.

 

Leicester Nutrition and Dietetic Service (Community) has a team of approximately 70 staff, made of Dietitians, public health Nutritionists, Dietetic Support Workers and support team staff covering the population of Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland.

 

The posts offer the opportunity to work with a wide range of population groups and health care professionals in a range of settings. Primary Care work includes inpatients, outpatient clinics, patient/staff education sessions, and providing a care home/domiciliary visit service. There may be the opportunity to develop patient information resources and some project work working with CCGs and care homes. You will have support from our friendly existing teams. We are looking for dietitians who have good team working skills and can work independently.

 

The service is committed to CPD and personal development and we have good clinical supervision models and in-house CPD in place to support you. The service is involved in the pre-registration placements for student dietitians undertaking A, B and C placements.

 

A licensed car driver is essential for this role.

Our Speech and Language Therapy Service is district-wide, and led by an SLT manager, covering acute hospitals, mental health units, community hospitals and clinics including both outpatient and domiciliary patients.

Ward 3 manage a range of specialities including sub –acute medically step down patients, those who have complex discharge needs and palliative patients for symptom control or ‘end of life’ care.

The community hospital wards all have an integrated patient management. Family and MDT goal setting are an integral part of the registered nurse role in all our in-patient areas. Supported by the Ward Sister and Matron, you will demonstrate and develop your professional accountability, innovative thinking and contribute to the clear vision for the in-patient nursing areas.

We use electronic systems including System One for patient records, Nervecentre and EPMA (electronic medication prescribing and administration system). We offer training and personal development within the wards and at our Learning and Development Centre to ensure you have the knowledge/skills to meet patient needs and complete your revalidation CPD requirements.

In addition we offer: free parking on all our sites and a shift pattern that includes traditional 7.5 hour shifts and a long shift pattern. We offer flexible working patterns and an opportunity to work predominantly days or predominantly nights. We can clarify this at interview.

The post holder will offer a high quality, specialist clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families referred by Community Paediatricians. They will offer consultation and training to the Community Paediatricians and other allied health professionals, as appropriate. The types of cases that may be referred include children with complex feeding issues, complex constipation and chronic medical conditions. In addition, the post holder will be required to undertake service evaluation, audit and research regarding psychological outcomes in the specialty to demonstrate the efficacy of the service

The post holder will be based within the Department of Paediatric Psychology, but required to deliver services from Community Clinics and other settings as appropriate. Secondment onto District Nursing CourseSuccessful applicants will be seconded to undertake the full time one year district nursing course leading to the Specialist Practitioner Qualification (District Nursing) at De Montfort University.

Entry Requirements

Significant post registration experience and ability to articulate the relevance of that experience to the field of district nursing.

Qualified to mentor pre-registration nursing students. Hold at least one additional level 6 module. Have evidence of undertaking relevant professional practice development.

Applicants will be interviewed by a panel comprising LPT managers, a practice teacher and an academic from De Montfort University.

Actual Annual Basic salary based on hours and training annex:Your salary in this training contract is adjusted based on the following criteria:(i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate;(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate;

(iv) more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.The course runs at academic levels 6 and 7 and the level offered to applicants will be based on previous academic success. The secondees will be supported by a qualified District Nurse mentor and be overseen by a Practice Teacher. For the duration of the course the secondees will hold supernumerary status.

On successful completion of the course secondees will be offered positions as Band 6 District Nurses within Leicestershire Partnership Trust (subject to appropriate vacancies being available at that time and completion of a successful interview).INTERNAL APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO MOVE BASE IF THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING A TRAINEE POST.The attached job description and person specification refer to the qualified role that the successful applicant will aspire to fulfil on completion of the course.

There is an expectation that successful applicants will remain in LPT’s employment for a minimum of two years post completion of the course. Should an applicant wish to leave before this time they may be required to pay back a percentage of the course fees in accordance with the LPT study leave policy.

Applicants who fail to successfully complete the course or meet their expected competencies during the course will be returned to a band 5 staff nurse post within LPT community health services (subject to appropriate available vacancies).
