The main purpose of this study was to determine the effects of parenting to students of BCU
SHS. The study was focused on the status of parents’ involvement and its effects to the
academic performance of students in school. Hence, to attain the purpose of this study, the
researchers used the descriptive method of research.

Absenteeism of Students
Introduction (background of the study)
This study moved beyond current research by focusing on student absenteeism at high school
level, with intent to address attendance concerns at an earlier age. By exploring the experiences
of students identified which chronic student absenteeism. The experience of their parents, and
the rule of the school leaders in understanding to such experience. The study opened the door
to contributions towards future attendance practices and policies which should improve student
attendance.
Statement of the Problem and Research Questions
Purpose Statement:
The researchers want to be clarified and know the reasons, outcomes of being absent or the
students’ absenteeism.
The result that can help the school solve or to lessen the problem of absenteeism od students.
Central Question:
1. What is the status of attendance of all grade 11 STEM students?
2. What are the reasons why do students are into absenteeism?
3. What are the effects of absenteeism to a student?
4. How can we lessen the problem of absenteeism?
Theoretical Framework
Theory statement: Expecting theory deals with motivation and management. An employee’s
performance is based on individual factors.
Theory explanation: Expectancy theory purposes an individual will act or behave in a certain
way because they are motivated to select a specific behavior over other behaviors due to what
they expect the result of what selected behavior will be.

ABSENTEEISM OF STUDENTS
Limitation
In gathering this data, students who received questionnaires related to their research study
might not read the given questions properly and may lead to an incorrect data. Also, some of
the students in each section that we chose to give out questionnaires might have absent/tardy
students and might not able to take or answer one. In result, it will have an unfair or different
result compared to the other sections that we have selected.
Significance of the Study
Socio-economic significance-In this research, the study tends to know the reason and the
solutions that can be possibly applied to avoid students from having too many absences
Students-will help them avoid having absences that may or might affect their school or
academic performances.
Teachers-will help them know the ways on how to encourage and motivate students to attend
their classes.
Parents-will help them to not be disappointed on their on child or ward’s grade and performance
Scope and Delimitation
This research will be conducted inside the Baguio Central University Senior High School. We
tend to let the Stem 11-A,Stem 11-B and Stem 11-C students to participate and to help us
complete and gather the appropriate data that we need for this study or research.
DATA GATHERING TOOL
The data gathering tool that we are about to use is giving of questionnaires. These
questionnaires contain the different information by which it gives results to the topic knowledge
that helps the respondence to be able to express themselves through it.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
Before the questionnaires be revised and edited, the questionnaires should be checked first by
the proctor. After it was checked, the researchers are now allowed to edit and revise the
questionnaire. After editing and revising, the letter to administer was approved first by the
proctor, the letter for respondents to ask permission should be approved by the school principal.
And after, we are now ready to distribute the questionnaires to those students that will respond
to it.
LOCAL POPULATION OF THE STUDY
The respondents of the study were the Grade 11 STEM learners of Baguio Central University.
Purposeful random sampling was used where there are 3 sections namely STEM A, STEM B,
STEM C. The researchers randomly selected respondents making it 34 learners as shown in
the table below.
SECTION TOTAL POPULATION SAMPLE (20%)
STEM A 45 9
STEM B 37 7
STEM C 30 6

In addition. We added 12 learners from each section for the interview, as a result, there will be
a grand total of 34 respondents of the study.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
This chapter includes discussion of the research design, locale and population, data gathering,
data gathering tool, validity and rehabilitee of the research instrument and the statistical
treatment used in the study.
RESEARCH DESIGN
This study aimed to monitor the absenteeism of STEM 11 students at BCU. The researchers will
make use of the survey questionnaire as the research tool to gather the needed data for this
study. The research design used in this study is the descriptive method. The descriptive method
involves the description, recording, analysis, and interpretation of the result of the data
gathered. It often involves some type of comparison or contrast.
Chapter IV
Results and Discussion
This chapter contains the study to examine the direct and indirect relationship between
student school absenteeism, personal factors (academic self-perception, attitudes towards
teachers and school, goal valuation and motivation or self-regulation), family factors (parents’
educational level and income), and academic achievement in structural equation model. 41
senior high school students participated in the study. The findings revealed that student
absenteeism was negatively related to academic self-perception, attitude towards teachers and
school, goal valuation and motivation or self-regulation and academic performance. Results also
revealed that student absenteeism differed in respect to parents’ educational level and income.
