*********************** QUOTABLES ***********************

When you sense a faint potentiality for happiness after dark times you must grab onto the ankles of that happiness and not let go until it drags you face-first out of the dirt --- this is not selfishness, but obligation.  You were given life; it is your duty (and also your entitlement as a human being) to find something beautiful within life, no matter how slight.

Elizabeth Gilbert (from Eat, Pray, Love)

It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection.

The Bhagavad Gita

****************************************************************

In the end, though, maybe we must all give up on trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives.  In the end, maybe it's wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.

THE “APPRECIATION GAME” SUMMER SERIES

I invite you to try-out this unique “conversational game” at one of my Appreciation Game Social Evenings.

If you’ve never played, never heard of it and can’t figure out how a “conversational game” could work but…

you like wide ranging, free flowing conversations that are full of laughter and life, silliness and seriousness, entertainment and enlightenment…and…

you enjoy sociability, meeting new friends and getting know old friends better…

… let me know so we can arrange for you to try it out at one of the first three games in one of the first three games series on the evenings of July 22 & 26 + Aug 3 (or at some subsequent game evening)

Games start 7:30 pm for 1 to 1½ hours followed by some social time.

Potluck finger food and beverages of choice are welcome. Tea, juice and water provided.

Each game is played 4 to 8 people, some (sometimes most) of whom are meeting for the first time. If you are hesitant about coming to a game because it is to you an unknown activity involving unknown people feel free include a friend to share the experience.

For more information check out my very basic Appreciation Game web page that is patiently awaiting a serious upgrade later this summer.

Curious about, interested in or excited by the possibilities? Email me or call 250-920-4160 to come try it out!

SUMMER SPECIALSINFORMATION

SUMMER SPECIAL EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT SUBMISSIONS

This is the last Choir Community Newsletters until the beginning of September. There may be, from time to time, GHC News & Business “Summer Specials” between now and then. Whenever one of those goes out I will include whatever submissions I have on hand (possibly just in the order received).

As with the newsletter: Dated Events will be repeated in such specials automatically until

their date has passed. Any other items that you want repeated must be re-submitted once

they appear in one of these special announcements.

In order to keep my volunteer work in providing this extra summer service to a minimum please make sure that any item you send conforms to the newsletter submission guidelines specified on our site’s “Using Our Newsletter” page. If you haven’t visited that page lately please review it before you send your first summer submission.

Please submit your items to: [email protected] .There are no guarantees when, or even if, such special announcements will go out so any items you submit are on “standby” only.

SHARED ACCOMMODATIONS WANTED FOR SEPT. OR OCT.

A long-time friend of mine is looking for a home and has this to say about it…

Positive, cheerful mid-life lady musician / yogini seeking friendly affordable shared accommodations for Sept or Oct.

I have a grand piano and an outdoor kitty I would love to keep, (but might have to consider letting him go if I need to.)

I'm early to bed, early to rise, clean-living, into meditation, music, and Yoga. I'd prefer Saanich / Gordon Head / Oak Bay / Royal Oak for ease of access to the peninsula, but will consider any area except Sooke if it's otherwise a good fit.

Excellent references available.

Please contact me at [email protected] or 250-655-9473. Iif you have any leads, that would be much appreciated!!!

If you have what she needs or can help her find it please let her know.
