Cooperative Learning Groups
Students share their objective summary of the “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” with their group members. Students are to analyze each summary for similarities. Then ana-lyze differences, and choose one to read to the class as an ideal model.
20 Minutes:
Students are to complete the writing lesson on page 15 “Letter Home from a Soldier.”
Homework for Independent Study and Due Dates:
Finish Letter for homework. It is due next Tuesday for a completion grade.

What is a noun? A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea.
What is a clause? It contains a subject and verb.
What is the difference between a dependent and independent clause? A dependent clause contains a subject and a verb but it is not a complete thought. Example: Where I eat dinner. An independent clause contains a subject, verb, and a complete thought. Example: I eat dinner.
What are the relative pronouns? who, whose, whom, that, and which

What are the relative adverbs? when, where, why, and how
What is a noun clause? Replaces a noun in the sentence. Chuy’s is where I eat dinner.
What parts of a sentence can be a noun? Subject, direct object, indirect object, object of the preposition, and predicate compliment.

What is the clue word (relative pronoun or relative adverb) in the above sentence that in-troduces the dependent clause?
