ANGLICAN YOUTHWORKSYouthworks is chartered by ordinance to assist the Sydney Anglican diocese in its ministry towards children, youth and families with the freedom to serve beyond this field (both denominationally and geographically). Youthworks therefore seeks to serve youth directly, as well as through the institutions where they may be found, namely in families, churches and schools. YOUTHWORKS CHRISTIAN OUTDOOR EDUCATION Youthworks Christian Outdoor Education leads the way in professional Christian Outdoor Education. Through the practise of temporary community, the passionate, enthusiastic and highly skilled team use outdoor learning experiences to bring together bible based discipleship and outdoor education in a unique and powerful way. The team is made up of a talented bunch of people who love Jesus, seek adventure in the outdoors and believe that not all lessons are best taught in the classroom. They are just as passionate about Christian ministry to young people as they are about adventurous experiences in God’s creation.
POSITION PURPOSETo oversee and have responsibility for the day to day management of the ……………………. Christian Outdoor Education (COE) Programs and COE Team including but not limited to management of staff and program services such as safety, risk management, activity maintenance and finances, and to ensure COE programs are of a high quality and are running smoothly.

Manage high quality client-centered service that achieves a pleasant experience for clients and promotes Youthworks in a positive way

Manage day to day troubleshooting and addressing relevant problems as they arise Maintain an overview of client feedback and in conjunction with relevant staff
implement strategies to increase customer satisfaction Oversee (or delegate as appropriate) the day to day management of Christian Outdoor
Education programs including but not limited to ensuring that adequate staff are rostered to facilitate program requirements
Assist with the hands on delivery of programs, if required and appropriate, to cover operations
Liaising with Clients Safeguard the integrity of the Gospel message as it is promoted and proclaimed on
COE programs Assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of activities to suit the needs, abilities
and experience of each group
People Overall supervision, training, and mentoring responsibility of COE staff Ensure that COE staff conduct themselves professionally and with a high level of
service Lead COE staff / task related meetings on a regular basis Participate in operations meetings Ensure that COE staff are wearing appropriate clothing including supplied uniform
items and where necessary safety equipment / clothing Cooperating with the training team to continue the training and development of team
members Mentoring junior staff with specific reference to their development of Christian
ministry skills Lead, encourage, disciple and pastorally care for Christian Outdoor Education staff Work under the leadership to achieve excellence in all facets of the ministry
Finance Ensure budgeted expenditure limits are adhered to In conjunction with relevant stakeholders oversee the ordering and stock control of
relevant inventory to ensure that Christian Outdoor Education operations can proceed effectively
Authorisation of relevant invoices on a weekly basis Ensure that pay information is completed fortnightly, authorized and submitted to the
pay office
Systems Accurately maintain and keep up to date relevant records as needed by Youthworks
and industry standards Ensure that any irregularities in operations and systems are reported to relevant
stakeholders as soon as possible

Ensure all relevant reporting occurs promptly, is enacted as needed and filed accordingly
Provide feedback on COE programs and system improvement measures that ensure excellence in service to our clients

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (SELECTION CRITERIA)Essential
Qualifications in Outdoor Recreation (Certificate IV level or higher) Qualifications (current) in First Aid and Water Rescue Qualifications in Theology Experience Christian Outdoor Educator – at least 4 years Capacity for excellent Christian servant leadership and the ability to positively
influence their team mates A passion for Word Ministry and for training and mentoring in this area The character needed to display pastoral and servant attitude towards supporting their
team mates Show resilience, strength and initiative needed to thrive in a leadership position High standards of professionalism including compliance with Standards and
Procedures as well as a thorough understanding of, and rigorous approach to, risk assessment and management
Demonstrable passion for the outdoors, for education, and for seeing these upheld as

a significant key to this ministry effort Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and
to be flexible to reflect changes in priority Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing
strong customer service A systematic and focused approach to tasks with a strong attention to detail An ability to work with a wide range of staff to achieve effective outcomes Strong work ethos Personal Christian faith and willingness to work within an Anglican organisation Commitment to work with Youthworks mission Verified and Cleared Working With Children Check number for paid employment
Desirable Leadership qualifications Experience with managing budgets
