October….
October was based on the seasons, pumpkins, weather, space, and spiders. The Purple group had the opportunity to learn about wind, rain, and snow through a variety of activities. The Red and Green groups learned all about the life cycle of a pumpkin. They also got to clean pumpkin seeds and prepare them for baking while also writing stories and sharing them with their groups. The Blue and Orange groups wanted to learn about the changing of seasons. This soon turned into a wonderful space adventure, as the children learned about how the Earth rotates. The children were able to take a trip to the campus planetarium, where they learned about stars and constellations.
The last week of October was all based around spiders. The children learned all about their webs, how they catch, their prey, and they even had the opportunity to see some real spiders and visit with a guest speaker. The children also enjoyed a costume parade on October 31st!
We had a great month and are looking forward to another one! Thanks, Lona

Fun Fact into November:
November is known as National Beard Month.
November… We are going to learn about community helpers, what and who community helpers are, where they can be found, and why they are important to our community. We will be having guest speakers from Police Dept, Sheriff Dept, State Patrol, Veterans, EMT’s, Dr or Nurse and our own, Haley Patterson, who just completed a bike ride with her family raising money for AID’s research. We already recycle, as community helpers, and we will be looking at what we can do here at CDC to be a Community Helpers.
We will also talk about Caring: emotions and feelings. We will once again be participating in the community caring and sharing project collecting prepackaged foods.
