The objective of the Workshop is to assist around twelve early-career environmental law scholars to publish an original research article on environmental law in English in an international top-tier journal. It is expected that about half of the participants will be from China and the other half from other countries. The working language of the Workshop will be English. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Faculty of Law at the University of Macau will hold a Writers’ Workshop on 23-24 September 2019. The objective of the Workshop is to assist around twelve early-career environmental law scholars to publish an original research article on environmental law in English in an international top-tier journal. It is expected that about half of the participants will be from China and the other half from other countries.

The working language of the Workshop will be English.

University, Melbourne); distinguished visiting scholar at University of Macau, Fall 2019.

Who Can Apply?

Current doctoral candidates or recent PhD graduates whose research is substantially in the area of environmental law.

A curriculum vitae must be included with the abstract.

Submission of Abstract:

Please email your abstract (300-500 words) and curriculum vitae to Professor Canelas de Castro (copied to Professor Zahar) by 7 June 2019, 11:45 AM CET.

Timeline for Workshop Papers:

1. A complete draft article in English is to be submitted to the committee through Professor Canelas de Castro by 2 August 2019.

2. The final selection of participants will be made on the basis of the above drafts. The results will be announced in mid-August 2019.

3. Highly advanced and refined versions of the selected papers are to be submitted to the committee by 13 September 2019.

Participants’ Obligations:

The final workshop papers will be shared among the invited scholars. All conference participants must carefully read and formulate constructive comments on all the draft articles as a condition of their participation in the workshop.

Workshop Venue:

The venue of the Workshop is the Faculty of Law at the University of Macau (address: E32 Faculty of Law, Avenida da Universidade, Taipa, Macao SAR, China).

Financial Support:

The University of Macau will cover two nights of accommodation, all meals, and round-trip local transportation in Macao for the selected workshop participants. Participants must cover their own transportation costs to and from Macao.
