Job Description Job Title: Activity Leader Location: Chaucer College Canterbury and Kingsgate Line Manager: Activity Manager Main purpose of job: Activity Leaders are responsible for the organisation and delivery of a varied and interesting social programme for students. Of all the staff on site, Activity Leaders will be interacting with the students the most, leading walking tours of tourist areas on excursions around the UK, organising quiz nights, talent shows, sports tournaments and supervising discos. Key Tasks: 1. Assisting with student arrivals, conducting a tour of the campus and the city, and helping with student departures as required by the Director of High Schools. 2. Supervising, leading and participating in evening activities, such as discos, quizzes and games. 3. Liaising with other College staff, and developing a friendly and co-operative atmosphere. 4. Cooperating with teachers and group leaders who are accompanying students on activities and excursions. 5. Organising and participating in daytime activities and excursions, such as walking tours, museum visits, sports afternoons and coach excursions. 6. Job Description

Job Title: Activity Leader

Location: Chaucer College Canterbury and Kingsgate

Line Manager: Activity Manager

Main purpose of job: Activity Leaders are responsible for the organisation and delivery of a varied and interesting social programme for students. Of all the staff on site, Activity Leaders will be interacting with the students the most, leading walking tours of tourist areas on excursions around the UK, organising quiz nights, talent shows, sports tournaments and supervising discos.

Key Tasks:

1. Assisting with student arrivals, conducting a tour of the campus and the city, and helping with student departures as required by the Director of High Schools.

2. Supervising, leading and participating in evening activities, such as discos, quizzes and games.

3. Liaising with other College staff, and developing a friendly and co-operative atmosphere.

4. Cooperating with teachers and group leaders who are accompanying students on activities and excursions.

5. Organising and participating in daytime activities and excursions, such as walking tours, museum visits, sports afternoons and coach excursions.

6. Ensuring you have all the necessary information to lead excursions, and giving informative talks both on the coach/train and when walking around.

7. Counting all students on and off coaches, in and out of attractions and reporting any problems immediately to the Activity Manager or responsible staff.

8. Sufficiently preparing and researching excursions and activities in order to deliver the most informative and organised event to students and group leaders.

9. Ensuring that the company’s health and safety guidelines are followed, both on campus and when students are on offsite excursions.

10. Helping to prepare and update the notice boards and signs around the campus to ensure students and leaders are kept informed.

11. Assisting with meal and curfew duties as and when instructed. This will sometimes involve late night work.

12. Assisting the centre office staff with any administrative tasks.

13. Non-residential Activity Leaders should be within easy travelling distance of the centre. Chaucer College does not reimburse staff for travel expenses.

14. Travelling to airports local to the centre to meet and assist groups upon arrival to the UK.

15. Wearing the appropriate dress as outlined in the College Handbook.

16. To act in a seemly and professional manner with all of Chaucer College’s agents, clients and staff and not to engage in any activity which may bring the College into disrepute.

17. To read and be fully conversant with the staff handbook, relevant Child Protection documents, Safeguarding Policy and all risk assessments prior to the start of the period of employment (documents supplied prior to the start of employment).

18. Develop positive relationships with students, earning their trust while maintaining proper professional boundaries e.g by not favouring particular individuals.

19. Carrying out Chaucer College’s safeguarding policy and ensuring others do the same.
