Kara is an independent nutritional consultant and teaches nutrition courses around the world. She is a consultant for the Lafeber Company, the Veterinary Team Brief editor, and is Brief Media's director of nursing. She has authored many articles, textbooks, and textbook chapters and is an internationally invited speaker, focusing on topics of nutrition, leadership, and technician utilization. Welcome to Session 300 – Nutrition for the Critically Ill Patient

Kara Burns is a licensed veterinary technician with a master’s degree in physiology and counseling psychology and is founder

and president of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians. Kara is an independent nutritional consultant and teaches

nutrition courses around the world. She is a consultant for the Lafeber Company, the Veterinary Team Brief editor, and is Brief

Media's director of nursing. She has authored many articles, textbooks, and textbook chapters and is an internationally invited

speaker, focusing on topics of nutrition, leadership, and technician utilization. Kara has been featured on the cover of "Veterinary

Technician" and "The NAVTA Journal." She was named the 2013 NAVC Technician Speaker of the Year, as well as the 2011 Dr.

Franklin Loew Lecturer. Kara was granted an honorary Veterinary Technician Specialist (Internal Medicine) in 2011 and an honorary

VTS (Dentistry) in 2012.
