1 Corinthians 2:6-16 (NASB)

6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden    wisdom    which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 9 but just as it is written,

“THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD,AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN   ,ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED    FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”

10 For to us God revealed    them    through the Spirit   ; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12      Now we    have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.

I have a secret. I get angry and not of the spiritual type. I have been doubtful, I have been afraid, I have not trusted, I struggle with trying to understand the truth in scriptures. But I have a secret this secret I don’t

have to put in the book I can share this secret with you my family. When my spirit is doubtful and afraid and not trusting and doesn’t understand I go to the Holy Spirit of God and reset myself to his authority. And I get some help!

2 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, /but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, /but on the power of God

1 Corinthians 2 1-6

1. I did not come with superiority of speech2. I did not come with superiority of wisdom3. I will stay in my lane and preach Jesus Christ, and him crucified

Paul learned to depend upon God. To reset himself to God’s Spirit and not to depend upon his spirit.

John 4:24  God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” 

1 John 1:5  [ God Is Light ] This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

1 John 3:20  in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

We are a social being. We are meant to be with others.

What is man’s spirit?

Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 

How is it different from God’s Spirit?

God is complete Holiness

1 John 1:5  [ God Is Light ] This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 

What is a spiritual reset?

Galatians 6:1  Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

How does it differ from a carnal reset?

Have you ever heard someone say? They push my buttons. The world pushes your buttons. But Christ has overcome the world. 1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 5:5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

How can we do a spiritual reset?

Three ways

1. Ask the Lord to search your heart.2. Give your thoughts to the Lord “don’t over think” trusts in the 

Lord.3. Give the Lord your emotional fears, anxieties, and doubts. [Phil 4]

“When Christians are uncomfortable they get stronger”

We must sit down and listen to the spirit of God.

Soul

Accordingly, the Hebrew word nephesh, although translated as "soul" in some older English Bibles, actually has a meaning closer to "living being". Nephesh was rendered in the Septuagint as ψυχή (psūchê), the Greek word for soul. The New Testament also uses the word ψυχή, but with the Hebrew meaning and not the Greek.

5590 psyxḗ (from psyxō, "to breathe, blow" which is the root of the English words "psyche," "psychology") – soul (psyche); a person's distinct identity (unique personhood), i.e. individual personality.

5590 (psyxē) corresponds exactly to the OT 5315 /phágō ("soul"). The soul is the direct aftermath of God breathing (blowing) His gift of life into a    person   , making them an    ensouled being   .  

Flesh

2. pertaining to the body (as earthly and perishable material, opposed to ζωή ἀκατάλυτος): Hebrews 7:16 G

4561 sárksproperly, flesh ("carnal"), merely of human origin or empowerment.

[4561 /sárks ("flesh") is not always evil in Scripture. Indeed, it is used positively in relation to sexual intercourse in marriage (Eph 5:31) – as well as for the sinless human body of Jesus (Jn 1:14; 1 Jn 4:2,3). Indeed, flesh (what is physical) is necessary for the body to live out the faith the Lord works in (Gal 2:20).]

4561 (sarks) is generally negative, referring to making decisions (actions)    according to self    – i.e. done apart from faith (independent from God's inworking). Thus what is "of the flesh (carnal)" is by

definition displeasing to the Lord – even things that seem "respectable!" In short, flesh generally relates to unaided human effort, i.e. decisions (actions) that originate from self or are empowered by self. This is carnal ("of the flesh") and proceeds out of the untouched (unchanged) part of us – i.e. what is not transformed by God.

Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is an ancient Greek word for "breath", and in a religious context for "spirit" or "soul".

4151 pneúma – properly, spirit (Spirit), wind, or breath. The most frequent meaning (translation) of 4151 (pneúma) in the NT is "spirit" ("Spirit"). Only the context however determines which sense(s) is meant.

[Any of the above renderings (spirit-Spirit, wind, breath) of 4151 (pneúma) is always theoretically possible (spirit, Spirit, wind, breath). But when the attributive adjective ("holy") is used, it always refers to the Holy Spirit. "Spirit" ("spirit") is by far the most common translation (application) of 4151 (pneúma).

The Hebrew counterpart (rûach) has the same range of meaning as 4151 (pneúma), i.e. it likewise can refer to spirit/Spirit, wind, or breath.]

Ecclesiastes 12:7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

James 2:26 for just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Galatians 5:16-17 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
