AN ENCORE LEARNING SPECIAL EVENT Freer Highlights Tour (Rescheduled and Enlarged) Explore the rich and diverse collections of the Freer Gallery of Art. The gallery will close on Jan. 4, 2016 for renovations and reopen in the summer of 2017; so see it on Tuesday, Nov.3, 2015. The free, hour-long tour will begin at 11:15 a.m. Try to arrive by 11 a.m. Registration is required and will now include 30 Encore Learning members. Learn about the history of the Freer Gallery of Art and its outstanding holdings of works from China, Japan, Korea, South and Southeast Asia, the ancient Near East, and the Islamic world, as well as late nineteenth-century American art. Founder Charles Lang Freer's understanding and appreciation of art and art history shaped his personal collection and his vision for the first Smithsonian museum devoted to the fine arts. Discover how he viewed Asian and American art as a collector and connoisseur in the late nineteenth century.

Explore the rich and diverse collections of the Freer Gallery of Art. The gallery will close on Jan. 4, 2016 for renovations and reopen

Learn about the history of the Freer Gallery of Art and its outstanding holdings of works from China, Japan, Korea, South and Southeast Asia, the ancient Near

East, and the Islamic world, as well as late nineteenth-century American art. Founder Charles Lang Freer's understanding and appreciation of art and art

A waiting list will be maintained and all registrants will be contacted by the coordinator approximately one week prior to the event regarding the status of

their registration. If you sign up but learn that you can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible so someone else can enjoy the tour.

The Freer Gallery of Art is located at Jefferson Drive at 12th Street, SW, in Washington, D.C. Travel by Metrorail is recommended: Smithsonian Metro

Station on the Orange, Silver and Blue Lines; L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station on the Yellow Line. Handicap accessible entrance to the Freer Gallery is located

on Independence Avenue at 12th Street, SW.
