Where exactly are we going and what will we be doing?

We have the phenomenal opportunity to work alongside Fair Anita’s mission partners in Cambodia. We will be visiting 3 different cities, having the opportunity to learn about a new country / culture and see what Christianity looks like in Cambodia. You’ll put your strengths to good use, contributing to the artisan’s mission and gaining a greater understanding of fair trade and how we can partner with people to create impact.

Mission highlights:

Our artisan partners are looking to start an organic garden right outside of their workshop, so they can grow the organic cotton / silk worms fairly on-site, then weave into fabric and sew into bags right next door at the workshop. Included in the cost of the trip is a donation to this project, and participants will be able to work alongside artisans on starting this garden.

Participants will pair up to interview artisan partners, learning about their lives, and then write up little stories that artisan partners can use in their marketing.

Lots of fun art opportunities: make your own scarf / help Fair Anita design a new product / lead an art class at the local school.

In Baray, stay in a Christian homestay near the workshop, which is a social enterprise run by local women. Eat at a Christian social enterprise that’s solar-run, locally-grown, run by women with polio.

See how Christianity and fair trade jobs have transformed the lives of people affected by the “Secret War” against Cambodia by the U.S.

Tourism highlights:

Explore Angkor Wat, a world heritage site and one of the coolest places ever to explore ruins!

Attend a Khmer dance performance, the traditional Cambodian dance.

Visit the Genocide Museum to learn about the history of torture in Cambodia, then visit artisan partners to see how these people have overcome enormous obstacles.

Finish off the trip with a trip to the Phnom Penh Night Market and a dinner cruise along the Mekong River.

How much will the trip cost and how do we pay for it?The cost of the trip is $900, plus the flight to Cambodia, which range about $1200-1500. This includes all food, rooms, translators, tourism, in-country transportation, and a $300 donation to our artisan partners. Not included in this price: passport, visa-upon-arrival, immunization shots, and travel insurance.

Note: In case of emergency, refunds cannot be assured. We will do our best to return any money possible, but many expenses are nonrefundable.
