Evaluation

Summary:

The process in making the production was a great chance for me to experience myself getting work in on time to a good quality. I realised that planning my time using the planner each week would help me to picture how things will run when making the production. Doing stop motion in the past I realised that the process in making the production wasn’t going to be fast if I wanted the best out of it. The editing of the photos did become repetitive at times. In my diary you’ll see that I spent a lot of time editing 135 photographs that I had taken.

There were also the steps in choosing what photographs I wanted to use in the making of the production. I had originally taken about 250 photographs and then I had to choose what photographs I needed for each scene in the short film.

To conclude the point I had actually created lots of different scenes for the short film, which meant that making the sound document for the production took a lot of thought; also I had to think about the duration for each scene seen in the production.

How the final production turned out…

Overall I think that my final production went really well. Everything went as planned and I ended up with loads of the different photo edits to make the film flow really well. I used the effect of colour pop that I have done in previous projects for each and every photo of my main character walking in scene to make the film seem more visually appealing.

I also spent time searching for the appropriate song to run smoothly with the film when it played when in the past I never showed must thought into how important the sound was to make an effective production. I didn’t notice many things in the film that I didn’t like in the end it linked with the title ‘The Extraordinary in the Everyday’ which was the whole purpose in the making the short pixilation movie. I feel that within the time I made the production (l2 minutes 8 seconds), I put my proposed message across that we spend too much time using our phones.

The shorter video clip of the game ‘Colour Pop’ worked really effectively alongside the pixilation photographs that had been edited in the background, I also think the text used was

gripping and easily readable as you could clearly see all the text shown on the black background.

Improvements:

To improve the short film I feel that I could have done a background around the app to clarify the fact I am on my phone. Instead of the background around the app being black I could of used another video filming down on me on my phone for example so that the app on screen looks better to look at.

For the first scene I could of maybe used a better in focus in film video so that you can clearly see what is going on in seen and to make the production seem as professional as possible.

Future Potential

The idea of using phones in public and using phones to much is a thing that I thought would play a part in today’s society at some point. The general idea was to make a production on ‘The Extraordinary in the Everyday’ so I thought that us using our phones constantly was extraordinary. It’s become a trend that everyone in the world has to have one and use one, so I feel that the work I created can be developed in future productions. There may be more ways of making it more memorable and certainly more engaging to an audience if I spent more time making the production so I feel that the point of us using our phones could be concluded onwards vastly making the audience act. There could be more points based around us using our phones for example, ‘we may miss things on our holidays’, and so many more different in depth ideas that could make an impact on people that watch the short film, react to what is being shown in the short film. Instead of using our phones we should spend more time interacting with the things that are around us.
