Eberechi I. Chiluwa is Professor of Language (discourse analysis & pragmatics) and Media/Digital Communications, and immediate past Head, Department of Languages & General Studies, Covenant University, OTA, (Nigeria). He is a Research Fellow and Digital Expert of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) (Bonn), and a visiting Professor in the Department of English, University of Freiburg, Germany. He obtained a PhD in English and Communication/Media Studies from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria) in 2005 and was a post-doctoral research scholar of the AvH at the University of Freiburg, Germany (2009/10). His research interests are (i) (critical) discourse analysis of media & digital communications – especially discourses produced by social movements, minority groups, rebel groups and terrorist organizations in the form of resistance, protests, activism or dissent in the media and the Internet; (ii) (critical) discourse analysis of online deceptive communications, particularly those associated with phishing, email financial scams and cyber-attacks; and (iii) analysis of socio-political and cultural discourses in the media and the internet, including online religion and the discourses of identity. Prof. Chiluwa has published extensively in these areas.
