Program Rules Rent a Plot:

1. Garden Plots for Rent

a. Raised Bed plot (4x12): $80.00

b. Raised Bed plot, with greenhouse space (Spring Only): $100

Terms;

€ Garden Plots can be rented by individuals or families. Any adult attending to a plot is responsible for ensuring that the ACRA Community Garden Program Rules are followed.

€ All garden plot renters must read and sign the ACRA Community Garden Program Rules.

€ Plot choice is on a first come, first served basis, and becomes effective upon payment of fees.

€ No one under 18 is allowed in the garden without adult supervision

€ No access is allowed to any outbuilding on the property, including the barn, at any time. You will be in violation of California Trespassing Law, California Penal Code No. 602

€ At end of the growing season, renters are required to participate in a fall cleanup day to remove all weeds, trash, or dead plants from the plot. At that time, please add either compost or mulch, or plant cover crop, such as fava beans.

Plant by Rules

€ Keep garden plot clean and free of weeds, debris, and garbage. Help maintain common areas like paths and picnic area.

€ Renters are to supply own plant supports, fertilizer, soil amendments, tools, seeds or plants starts.

€ Any use of chemicals or soil amendments must be approved by Community Garden Staff. Only organic soil amendments allowed (compost, fish meal, bone meal, oyster shells, etc.) Absolutely no chemical pesticides or herbicides!

€ An automatic drip system can be installed, however renters are to supply the materials. Hand watering is allowed, however, water conservation must be adhered to. All spigots must be turned off upon departure. If water spigots are left on and running unattended, you will be held responsible and charged $10.00 per incident.

€ Remain on pathways and do not disturb other gardens. Do not pick or harvest vegetables from neighboring plots.

Community Garden Rules

€ The gate combination cannot be given out. Only those adult Renters who have read and signed the ACRA Community Garden Program Rules will have access.

€ Gate must be closed and locked upon departure, unless there are other gardeners present.

€ Renters and participants of ACRA sponsored workshops are not allowed beyond the garden and parking area.

€ ACRA will only furnish some gardening tools. Renters will be responsible for their own implements and will not hold ACRA or the ARCD responsible for any damage or loss due to theft. Keep tools out of pathways. If you chose to store tools in garden, please label them with your name.

€ Pets are allowed on site with permission of gardener beforehand.

€ Children are allowed at the community garden when fully supervised of by an adult. Please inform children of the basic rules of the garden: stay on pathways, off of neighboring plots, etc.

€ There will be no smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs on the community garden site.

€ Please be respectful of your neighbor gardeners!

€ No potable water available, bring your own drinking water!

€ No vehicles allowed beyond gate into garden area.

€ Violators of ACRA Community Garden Rules may be asked to relinquish their plot.

Health and Safety in the Garden

€ Drink adequate amounts of water while at the garden to avoid dehydration.

€ Avoid gardening during the heat of the day, generally the early and late afternoon hours are a nice time to be in the garden.

€ Avoid gardening in extreme high humidity and bad air quality days.

€ Use sunscreen and re-apply as needed, especially if you’re staying in the garden for long periods of time.

€ Treat scrapes and skin abrasions, keep it clean and wash thoroughly with soap and water.

€ Avoid injury by using the proper tool for the job. Avoid weak or damaged tools; breakage can cause injury. Use proper mechanics when lifting, shoveling, and doing physical labor.

Parking

€ Park inside the entrance gate in designated parking sites

€ Do not park along Jackson Gate Road, in lot across from the Chichizola Store, or in the parking driveway parallel to the garden (Gate House Inn).
