High Level Christian Academy “Under His Wings” “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Psalm 91:4 OCTOBER 2018 Newsletter FROM THE PRINCIPAL Wow! September has flown by; it was filled with many activities both on site and off. We had the privilege of joining in with the rest of High Level’s students for a FASD awareness walk and we were blessed to be invited once again to visit Rocky Acres and enjoy their full day of activities. So much fun has been had! Delicious smells permeated the school as ECS, Grade 1s, and the Jr. Highs have enjoyed baking in the kitchen. I am so thankful for all of our families here at HLCA; I was blessed many times this past month by your kind and encouraging words. Your prayers and encouragement are always needed; please continue to commit your children’s teachers to the Lord daily. Only God can cause seeds of faith to be firmly planted and to flourish. God also answered a number of our prayers this past month. Kathy Zorrilla has kindly offered to teach our Grade 7&8 students Math, already relieving student and principal stress levels! We have also been blessed by the many helping hands that have come alongside our teachers to help in our classrooms. As we look ahead to October, please be aware of the many exciting things happening in our school. On October 2, we will be celebrating “Orange Shirt Day” or rather “Orange Day;” kids should come wearing something orange. The point of Orange Shirt Day is to take the time to remember the scarring effects of the Residential school system and Colonialism on our First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada. We will also take the time to pray for the many Aboriginal people who are still suffering cross-generational trauma stemming from these dark moments in Canadian history. Please take the time to remind your kids that Christ is the only source of hope, healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation. On October 5, we are having a Harvest Day; each child is to bring a harvest themed snack to share with their class (apples, carrot sticks, canning, baking, and pumpkin seeds, etc. are great snack ideas). We will be organizing some fun activities for the whole school. Staff will be away from October 17-19 for some Professional Development and Spiritual Encouragement; please pray for our safe travels and for a blessed time of fellowship and learning. 1
