Tuesday October 4th

My Selfies with the 4 types of sentences.

First you will review the four types of sentences and its corresponding punctuation.Then you will use the Web 2.0 tool Chogger. You will create a Selfie Comic Strip using the four types of sentences. You will choose the four-box template on Chogger. Next, you will take selfies of yourself making different facial expression to match each sentence type.

After you put your pictures on each box, you will add speech bubbles and a different type of sentence in each one. Once you finish you comic, you will take a screenshot of your work and you will paste it on a word document which you will print. Don’t forget to write all the required information on it and insert it in the inbox.

Thursday October 6th

THE PACKET OF BISCUITSFirst, you will PRINT the worksheet located under these instructions. Then you will read the short story named THE PACKET OF BISCUITS. Once you have read the story, you will read each instruction carefully to complete each exercise.

A woman was shopping one day. She was tired, hungry and thirsty so she decided to buy a packet of biscuits and a coff ee and find a comfortable place to sit in the sun. She sat on a bench, took out a magazine and started to drink her coff ee.

A few minutes later, a teenage boy wearing punk clothes came and sat down next to her. Then the woman realised that the punk boy was taking biscuits and eating them slowly.

The woman was angry but she didn’t say anything. She took a biscuit herself . The boy looked at her, smiled and took another biscuit. The woman thought “I ’m going to have to eat these biscuits quickly, before this boy eats them all”. She took another biscuit, and ate it f ast. There was only one biscuit lef t. The boy picked it up, broke it in two and gave her half , smiling. The woman smiled but inside she was furious!

The boy got up, said goodbye and went away. “Young people today just have no respect,” she thought to herself . She opened her bag to put her magazine away, and what did she see? Her packet of biscuits! “Oh, no! I was eating the boy’s packet of biscuits!”

Read the story again and answer the questions. Put the events of the story in the right order.

British vs. American English As you already know English is a language that is spoken all over the world. Because of this there are different accents in different parts of the world. In today’s homework you will be taking a look at the difference between American and British English.Work on the worksheet your teacher gave you during Monday’s class.Read and follow the instructions on each of the activities.

Remember to properly tittle your homework with name, date, group, list #, and teacher.

Thursday October 6 th

Writing a Funny Story Using British EnglishDuring Tuesday’s homework you worked with the difference between American and British English. For today’s homework you will be using all of the British words you learned from activity 1 to write a funny story.

First, make sure you have the worksheet with you. Then, using the words from activity 1 begin writing your story in

your homework journal. Once you have used all of the words in your story you can finish

your story. After that go back to your story and highlight all of the British

words.

Remember to go back and read your story to make sure you have proper capitalization and punctuation.

Don’t forget to properly title your homework.

“My Last Birthday”

Think about your last birthday. Ask yourself the following questions

What did you do?

Did you have a party?

Where did you have your party or reunion?

How many people came to your party or reunion?

Did you have a cake?

What was it like?

How did it make you feel?

After you gather this information, WRITE A PARAGRAPH describing what happened that day. Make sure you write the title, date and your name.

You must write a minimum of 50 words. You could write it directly into the email or in a word document as an attachment to the email.

Thursday October 6th

“This is what my family is doing”

Take pictures of a regular day at your house. Two in the morning, two in the evening and two at night. Using those pictures describe what your family members are doing. Write 2 activities in complete sentences per image.

In a Power Point Presentation, create 2 slides: in the first slide type the title “This is what my family is doing” and add the 6 pictures in it. Be creative! In the second slide, write the six sentences correctly.
