after exercising? 1. Take your resting heart rate. You can do this by

taking your pulse (counting the beats) in one minute. You might want to ask your grown-up for help, if your unable to find/take your own pulse.

2. Make a prediction about what will happen after exercise.

3. Run on the spot or skip continuously for two minutes.

4. Measure your heart rate again, like in step 1, immediately after exercising. Then measure it again after 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes.

5. What did you find out? 6. Do you think it would be the same results with a

different form of exercise?

You will find all resources you need in the R.E. resources section. Read Genesis 1 26-31 then answer the question below the passage, you can do this by thinking of your answers or discussing it with a family member (if you would prefer to do so). Then take a look at the PowerPoint slide pictures, they are all examples of how humans have negatively impacted our planet. Using what you have read so far, you need to complete Task 1, in this task you must decide whether you agree or disagree with each statement, however you must back up your decision with a reason. Finally, complete task 2, you are provided with a grid and once again must answer the questions with a detailed response, giving reasons for your answer.

Art PSHE&C In the World… It is National Art Week (however, it actually runs over three weeks!). It is week 2 and the theme is ‘Connecting Across the Generations’. Pick at least one of the ideas below. 1. Draw pencil portraits of members of your family, one as a baby, one as a child, one as a teenager, one middle aged and one elderly. 2. Find pictures of different types of hands on the internet – babies, old people – print them out, cut out and stick down to make a collage – decorate around the edges using words like - old, young, new life, elderly, generations, love, respect etc. 3. Create a family tree, including lots of different generations, you can use different media/materials like paint, finger paints, collaging, sketching, natural resources, etc. 4. Draw and paint yourself from the waist up with your arms outstretched to give a virtual hug, you could then deliver it or post it to a family member you haven’t hugged in a while e.g. your grandparents. If you want to make it even more special attach a letter or poem for your special person to read along with their virtual hug.

This week we are thinking about resilience. The characters from the Beano are going to help us learn about bounce-back ability! Watch this video - https://youtu.be/uY33NDKTLTk So, to be resilient we need to be brave. What kind of things can we be brave about? Trying new things? Telling someone when we feel upset? Collect some ideas. Now can you design an information poster telling other people how they can be brave – more resilient. Help them to discover their bounce-back ability!

At some point this week, find out and compare the temperatures for the places listed below.

1. Consett, England 2. London, England 3. Birmingham, England 4. Reims, France 5. Dubai, UAE 6. Tokyo. Japan 7. Melbourne, Australia 8. Brasilia, Brazil 9. Vancouver, Canada 10. Saint Petersburg, Russia

Based on what you have found out, which place do you wish you could visit and why? Every Friday ‘Newsround’ release a weekly quiz, this is a chance to find out how much attention you have been paying to world events throughout the week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51318780 On Friday, give the quiz a go and see what score you get!

due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

Some people might be deciding whether to travel to Tokyo next year to watch some

of the events.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to research Tokyo and create a persuasive

You might want to include information, such as: where Tokyo is, which popular

tourist attractions they could see, what the weather/climate like, where the Olympic

events being held (they might be in spectacular buildings), what the food/cuisine is

like in Tokyo, etc.

Genesis 1:26-31

Made To be like God

In this passage, following the creation of the universe, we come to God’s masterpiece, or as

St Paul says in his letter to the Ephesians, ‘God’s work of art’. The writer of Genesis clearly

states that the human being – each man and woman - is made in the image and likeness of

the Creator. This is not said of any other creature. The writer of Genesis tells us that ‘God

blessed them...’, and that when he had finished his work, culminating in the creation of the

human being, ‘God saw all that he had made, and indeed it was very good.’ . The human

being – female and male – is the high point of creation, because of being made in God’s

image. However, with privilege and honour come responsibility, and the wonderful world

which God has made needs to be looked after and protected. This is stewardship; this is the

job which God gives to humankind.

In this first chapter of the first book of the Bible, God says that human beings, made in the

image of God and therefore worthy of respect and dignity, are to take responsibility for all

creatures; God makes it clear that there is enough food for all creatures, ensuring that the

harmony which God wants for all creation can be maintained. This responsibility means that

humanity, privileged to be made in the image of God and blessed by the gifts of the Creator,

shares in responsibility for creation, the work of God. We are stewards, not owners of the

world and its gifts; we need to remind ourselves that the gifts of creation are not just for us

now but also for future generations to benefit from and enjoy – as God intended. For us as

Christians, the challenge lies in what we do in our everyday lives to witness to this belief.

After God created the Earth, he created humans. People are made in the image and likeness of God and that means that each person has dignity and is to be treated with respect.

Creation is not ours to own but it is on loan to us for the time we live on the earth. The passage above tells us of our responsibility to take care of the earth and everything in it; that is to be good stewards.

We must protect and sustain it for future generations.

Questions to think about and/or discuss with your grown-ups.

Why did God make human beings? What job have humans been given? How well do you think humans do that job? What are your reasons for your answer? How does scripture inspire people to be stewards of creation? How does Christian belief in stewardship of creation, shape how we take responsibility for caring for the

earth, preventing damage to God’s creation

The challenge we face is to halt this destruction and heal, wherever possible, the damage already done to the planet.

Sometimes our actions encourage other people to act too. They see what can be done and join in. This is called leading by example or by witness.

Fortunately, there are many people who are concerned about the harmony and integrity of Creation and want to live a more ecological or green lifestyle. St. Francis is the patron saint of Ecology. Ecology, which comes from the Greek word meaning house or home, is about being at home on earth and ensuring the good relationship between created things. The desire for a more ecological or green lifestyle brings together people, of different religions, races and cultures.

Task 1

Read each statement below and decide whether you agree or disagree with it, make sure you give a reason to back up your opinion.

1.The survival of the world depends upon our sharing what we have and working together.

2.Damage to the environment affects every part of creation.

3.We should not only think about ourselves but protect

4.God’s creation for future generations. I cannot change the world.

5.Creation belongs to us; we can do what we like.

6.We can make a difference.

7.Most humans don’t care for the earth.

Task 2

Complete the grid by writing answering each question, make sure you back up your answers with your reason, thoughts, feelings, opinions and links to scripture where you can.

Why do you think it is important to show respect for and be stewards of God’s

creation?

Do you think that people respect the environment?

How have people damaged God’s creation? In what ways could you encourage people to show greater respect for and stewardship of

the environment and God’s creation?

What actions would you like your school to take, to care for the environment and

creation?

How have you shown and/or not shown respect for and stewardship for the environment and God’s creation?
