ProTab Firmware Upgrade

The current firmware has separately partitioned the available space on your device

for apps and data files. These instructions will upgrade your device to our latest

firmware which will remove the partition, thus increasing the storage capacity for

apps and games.

1. Download the upgrade file

• Visit www.protabelectronics.com.au/upgrade

• Download the upgrade file “Upgrade.zip”

• Extract the “Upgrade.zip” file

You will have the “Firmware” and “Tools” Folders from the extracted “Upgrade.zip” file.

Please note that you must have Zip File Compression Software installed on your computer before

proceeding to this upgrade.

2. Install the driver for the tablet

• In the “Tools” folder, you will see a directory named “DriverAssitant_v4.2”

• In this folder run the file DriverInstall.exe

• If you see a Security message warning below, please click “Install” to proceed

• You will see “RK Driver Assistant” dialog box below, please click “Install” drive

to proceed

• Wait for the Installation process to complete – this may take a few minutes.

• Once the Installation has been completed, “DriverInstall” dialog box will

appear. Please click “OK” to proceed.

• The driver should now be installed. Please restart your computer.

3. Select the new tablet firmware

• From the “Tools” folder, you will see a directory named

“AndroidTool_Release_v2.35”

• In this folder, please click the program “AndroidTool.exe”

• Please select the “Upgrade Firmware” tab

• Please click “Firmware” option from the “Upgrade Firmware” menu

Please note that “Demo” tick box remained unticked

• It will prompt you to select the firmware file you want to upgrade. Please

select “update.img” from “Firmware” folder.

4. Upgrade your ProTab Tablet firmware

Please note that your ProTab Tablet must be at least 50% charged before you proceed with the

upgrade installation steps below.

• Connect your ProTab Tablet to the computer with a USB cable.

• Then with one hand press the “Volume Up” button and don’t release it, and

with your other hand press the “Reset” button and then release the “Reset”

button.

• The “Volume Up” button should still be pressed in until the text “No Devices

Found” changes to “Found One LOADER Device” as it states below:

• Then you can release the “Volume Up” button

(Please note that you might need to press the “Volume Up” button for 10 seconds or more)

• Please click “Upgrade” option as stated below:

• Once you have selected the “Upgrade” button, the upgrade installation

process will now start

• When the upgrade installation process is complete, the ProTab Tablet will

now reboot

Please note that the upgrade installation process will take up to 10 minutes to reboot.

• Once the upgrade installation has been successful, you will see the “Android

Welcome Installation” screen below:

Important Note:

If the upgrade installation process has been interrupted or failed, please repeat the “Upgrade

your ProTab Tablet firmware” step above.
