Some experts believe that if obesity among kids continues to increase at this rate, our current generation could become the FIRST in American history to live shorter lives than their parents.

Psychological effects

Obese children are more likely to be bullied by their peers and even family members.

Stereotypes around obesity can lead to a child having low self-esteem.

Depression and reclusion is seen at an alarming rate in obese children.

Causes

One of the greatest causes of childhood obesity is genetics. Children of two obese parents are more likely to become obese themselves.
