INTERREG IVC: Information from Lisbon Launch EventThe INTERREG IV C Programme Launch Event on 21st/22nd September 2007in Lisbon provided important information on the further proceedings.

Andreas Krüger (EUROBIRD lead partner City of Bremen), Hartmut Beyer, and Nils Levsen (UNICONSULT) attended the INTERREG IVC Launch Event in Lisbon in order to promote EUROBIRD and gather further information for the application process.

We were honored to be officially requested to present EUROBIRD to an audience. The project was very well-received with the audience and the attending INTERREG IVC officials.

EUROBIRD has entered the INTERREG IVC online “Project Idea Database”*.

EUROBIRD‘s ability to build on its predecessor projects SEABIRD, SEAPLANE, and EUROPLANE has been cited as a strong argument in favor of project acception from the side of an INTERREG official.

The INTERREG IVC Joint Technical Secretariat in Lille, France awaits the submission of the EUROBIRD project application during the 1st call for applications, which will last until 15.01.2008.

INTERREG IVC: Information from Lisbon Launch EventThe INTERREG IV C Programme Launch Event on 21st/22nd September 2007in Lisbon provided important information on the further proceedings.

There have been slight adjustments in terms of project content compared to the initial project sketch, as INTERREG IVC only allows the funding of certain priorities:

– “Innovation and Knowledge Economy” and– “Environment and Risk Prevention”.

A sub-theme to “Innovation and Knowledge Economy” is “Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Entrepreneurship” – this is where we will position EUROBIRD, focusing on:

– Regional Airports in their role as SMEs,– The positive impact of regional airports on surrounding SMEs (i.e. airport business parks).

Consequently this means that EUROBIRD’s project focus will remain on business development (“Activity 1”) of regional airports, however, there will be the additional aspect of the integration of surrounding SMEs and intensifying links to the local economy.

Moreover, a number of environmentally-focused actions (“Activity 2”) and the aspect of risk management (“Activity 3”) have been added to EUROBIRD’s activity portfolio.

The Lisbon Launch Event has reinforced out optimism regarding a successful project application and timely start of project works.

INTERREG IVC: Information from Lisbon Launch EventThe INTERREG IV C Programme Launch Event on 21st/22nd September 2007in Lisbon provided important information on the further proceedings.

EU co-financing of 75% (85% for convergence countries) has been officially confirmed, meaning €3 from INTERREG for every €1 of regional funding.

Bearing in mind the project volumes suggested by INTERREG, a typical partner budget should amount to some € 200.000 to € 300.000 in order to make an impact. This funds will composed as as follows:

EUROBIRD Financing

Partners‘ Funding EU Co-Financing

€ 30,000 to € 45,000 € 170,000 to € 255,000

ca. € 75,000 ca. € 225,000

Convergence Countries*

Other EU Countries

Funding covers the entire estimated project duration of 3 years.

Funding from lead partner City of Bremen will exceed the amounts indicated above.

With the high requirements regarding quality and volume of work posed by INTERREG, a total project budget of € 2.5 to 3 million will be necessary.

Sustainable Operations – External

Measures

Integration with Public Transport / Passenger Information Systems

Third Party Funding / Development Instruments

Airports are large consumers of energy and water and produce lots of

waste. Optimization of these activities thus has a

strong direct impact.

Promoting sustainable transport

on airport grounds

With their strong public exposure and close ties to local communities and regions, airports can be role models and take a leading position in

ecological facility management and environmentally conscious behavior.

Dear Partners,

To the left you find the proposed activity list for EUROBIRD.

Please get in contact with your airport before the Handover Event in Bremen to evaluate which activities are most important to you.

Note:An exemplary partner budget of about€ 300.000 (also see slide 4) will presumably cover the participation in 4 to 5 activities plus Management and Coordination plus Communication and Dissemination costs, however, higher or lower budgets are possible.
