Annual Homecoming Hot Dog Supper Sept. 30 OCC Scarecrow Building Contest underway This annual family event will be held at the Community Center before the Homecoming parade and bonfire. Bring the whole family for dinner, then walk to the bonfire and show your support for the Lumberjacks!! Date: Wednesday, Sept. 30, Time: 5:30 – 7 p.m., Location: OCC Great Room Put on your thinking caps..the Seventh Annual Scarecrow Building Contest is right around the corner! The contest will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11. Registration packets are available at the OCC and must be submitted by Thursday, Oct. 8. Get your family, neighbors, group or organization together and build a masterpiece! All registered scare- crows will be given a site on Shafor Boulevard so the whole community can enjoy them! Entries will be judged on creativity and originality and prizes will be awarded to First, Second and Third place. For more information, please call the OCC at 298-0775. Oakwood amateur photo contest seeks entries Photographers, nature lovers and those looking for a way to enjoy the great outdoors are invited to partici- pate in Oakwood’s Amateur Photo Contest. Using the spectacular scenery within Oakwood, participants may submit photographs taken in the city limits, in any or all of the four subject areas, nature/wildlife, landscapes/ architecture, people/pets, and Smith Gardens. This contest will be open to resi- dents in the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-17, and 18 and older. There will be one winner in each category, along with best in show, people choice, and Mayor’s award. Entries will be accepted thru Wednesday, Nov. 4. Photos must have been taken with in the 2009 calendar year. Photographs will be on display Saturday, Nov. 7, 2-4:30 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.
