Need for Cataloguing Sales Tax Sales Tax – is a tax charged on goods and it is collected from the buyer by

the seller

Sales tax catalogue in Shoper 9 (HO/POS) – is used to define the sales tax structure applicable for different category of goods sold

Sales tax catalogue – is required for item wise sales tax computation during billing

Sales Tax Groups in Shoper 9 Product wise – different tax rates based on different categories of goods.

For example, different tax rates for Readymade Garments and Leather goods.

Source wise – different tax rates based on the source of goods. For example, different tax rates are applied for goods purchased locally and interstate.

Destination wise – different tax rates based on the destination of goods. For example, different tax rates are applied for goods sold locally and interstate. This tax type is generally used in Shoper Distributor where the customers are not local customers.

Configuration

Before cataloguing sales tax, you need to make sure the following:

In System Parameters: the required sales tax groups are enabled by setting the corresponding parameters under the category Tax

In General Lookup: the required tax codes and descriptions for each sales tax group are entered

Cataloguing Tax

In Tax catalogue: Various components of the tax and their respective rates are defined Different tax rates effective from different dates for the same product tax type

can be set in advance

To catalogue sales tax:In Shoper 9 HO:o Select the option Tax Catalogue under Masters > POS

In Shoper 9 POS:o Select the option Tax under Catalogue

Notes: 1. In the case of Chain Stores, the Head Office defines the sales tax structure

and then distributes it to the entire chain. 2. You can include or exclude stores based on location, while cataloguing

sales tax in the Head Office.

Sales Tax in Shoper 9

Item master – appropriate sales tax structure is applied for each item category

Billing – sales tax computation for each item selected for billing

Tally Interface – posting of transactions like Sales and Purchase to Tally.ERP 9 to get the statutory reports in Tally.ERP 9

Reports – Some of the Shoper 9 reports which give tax information are:o Bill-wise Sales report – gives total tax collected with tax wise break upo Sales Tax Register – gives sales tax information
