EXCLUSION: THE PRESIDIO’S ROLE IN WORLD WAR II JAPANESE AMERICAN INCARCERATIONOpen Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm; through March 2018During World War II, the Presidio—the Army’s Western Defense Command—played a pivotal role in the unjust incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans, purpor tedly in the name of national security. This special exhibition invites visitors to investigate the choices—both personal and political—that led to this dark chapter in American history, and to reflect on what we have learned that helps us address present-day issues of mass incarceration, immigration reform, and racial profiling.

In developing EXCLUSION, the Presidio Trust collaborated with the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the National Japanese American Historical Society, both located in the Presidio.

KRONOS QUARTETSaturday, August 12, 7 to 8:30 pmKronos Quar tet returns for an intimate concer t that explores music from all over the world and sounds from all corners of the imagination. The per formance features new and recent works writ ten for Kronos’ Fifty for the Future, an education and legacy project that is commissioning contemporary reper toire for string quar tet.

EXCLUSION: THE PRESIDIO’S ROLE IN WORLD WAR II JAPANESE AMERICAN INCARCERATIONOpen Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm; through March 2018During World War II, the Presidio—the Army’s Western Defense Command—played a pivotal role in the unjust incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans, purpor tedly in the name of national security. This special exhibition invites visitors to investigate the choices—both personal and political—that led to this dark chapter in American history, and to reflect on what we have learned that helps us address present-day issues of mass incarceration, immigration reform, and racial profiling.

In developing EXCLUSION, the Presidio Trust collaborated with the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the National Japanese American Historical Society, both located in the Presidio.

KRONOS QUARTETSaturday, August 12, 7 to 8:30 pmKronos Quar tet returns for an intimate concer t that explores music from all over the world and sounds from all corners of the imagination. The per formance features new and recent works writ ten for Kronos’ Fifty for the Future, an education and legacy project that is commissioning contemporary reper toire for string quar tet.

This special exhibition invites visitors to investigate the choices—both personal and political—that led to this dark chapter in American history, and to reflect on what we have learned that helps us address present-day issues of mass incarceration, immigration reform, and racial profiling.

In developing EXCLUSION, the Presidio Trust collaborated with the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the National Japanese American Historical Society, both located in the Presidio.

EXCLUSION: THE PRESIDIO’S ROLE IN WORLD WAR II JAPANESE AMERICAN INCARCERATIONOpen Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm; through March 2018During World War II, the Presidio—the Army’s Western Defense Command—played a pivotal role in the unjust incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans, purpor tedly in the name of national security. This special exhibition invites visitors to investigate the choices—both personal and political—that led to this dark chapter in American history, and to reflect on what we have learned that helps us address present-day issues of mass incarceration, immigration reform, and racial profiling.

In developing EXCLUSION, the Presidio Trust collaborated with the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the National Japanese American Historical Society, both located in the Presidio.

SUMMER OF LOVEThe Presidio joins in the city-wide Summer of Love 50th anniversary, celebrating the iconic era when 100,000 young people came to San Francisco and star ted a movement that influenced popular culture through music, fashion, and ar t; launched the organic foods movement; and protested war with peace and love.

KRONOS QUARTETSaturday, August 12, 7 to 8:30 pmKronos Quar tet returns for an intimate concer t that explores music from all over the world and sounds from all corners of the imagination. The per formance features new and recent works writ ten for Kronos’ Fifty for the Future, an education and legacy project that is commissioning contemporary reper toire for string quar tet.
