In Case of Snow: Where’s your car?Reminder, if we have a “plowable” snow storm no vehicles can be parked on the street, or on a home driveway. Winter Clean UpThe Villas at Five Ponds Executive Board asks all home owners to do some “winter clean up” around their homes. Placing things like empty planters out of the way, throwing out dead plants, etc. Thank you!

Parking in Snowy WeatherIt has been observed that there are several vehicles that, while parked legally, are being left on Villa or Fairway Drives for extended periods.

As a mentioned earlier, when we have to plow snow, it is an immediate $100 fine if a car is left on the street or your driveway. All “extra” vehicles must be parked on the middle two rows of the clubhouse lot. Also, please be aware should a resident or guest have vehicle with an expired inspection sticker or non-up to date license plate, that vehicle cannot be parked anywhere on our property, clubhouse lot, street, or driveway. Yes, it can be left in your garage.

NEWER RESIDENT Bill Shapcott clears a path for his pup after waiting three days for the vendor to clear his drive-way. Bill said, “I didn’t move here to do this.” His next door neighbor had her grandson bring a residential snow thrower to clear an emergency path. Even with the 24” deep snow, he did it in 15 minutes. Perhaps he should form a company and be our vendor.

IT IS TIME TO FORGET THE PAST and all the Eagles’ disappointments that we have shared together. Our previous seasons have been awful, needless to say. But it is time to “suck it up” as football fans and look ahead. An interesting fact is that the Philadelphia Eagles have had 11 coaches since the 1973 season. Andy Reid being the most successful at 130-93.

Mike McCormack 16-24 (1973–75) Dick Vermeil 54-47 (76–82) Marion Campbell 17-29 (83–85) Fred Burney 1-0 (85) Buddy Ryan 43-35 (86–90) Rich Kotite 38 -28 (91–94) Ray Rhodes 29-34 (95–98) Andy Reid 130-93 (99–2012) Chip Kelly 47-26 (2013–15) Pat Shurmur 1-0 (2015) Doug Pederson 2016 present

Does this bring back any memories? We are now entering into a brand new era with newly acquired coach Doug Pederson. The Eagles new coach has an impressive football background at age 47. His career history as a player:New York/New Jersey Knights (1992), Miami Dolphins (1993–1995), Philadelphia Eagles (1999), Cleveland Browns (2000) and the Green Bay Packers (2001–2004). As a coach: Calvary Baptist Academy (2005–2008) Head Coach, Philadelphia Eagles (2009–2010) Offensive quality con-trol coordinator (2009–2010). Philadelphia Eagles (2011–12) QB Coach, Kansas City Chiefs (2013–15) Offensive Coordinator. Pederson was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Miami Dolphins in 1991 out of the N.E. Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. For several years, Pederson bounced on and off the Dolphins before settling into the roster, spending time on their practice squad roster in 1993. He also helped Don Shula win his NFL record 325th victory as a coach when starting QB Scott Mitchell went down with an injury in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on November 11, 1993. In 1992, Pederson played for the New

York/New Jersey Knights of the World League of America Football. Pederson returned to the World League in 1995 playing for the Rhein Fire in 1995. Pederson was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the NFL expan-sion draft, but he was released by the Panthers prior to training camp that year. For the 1996–1998 seasons Pederson was the Packers backup and QB. In 1999 he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as a temporary starter until Donavan McNabb was ready to start. The next year. Pederson filled the same role for the Cleveland Browns and their Sophomore QB Tim Couch. In 2001 Pederson again joined the Green Bay Packers and he remained the backup QB there up until his retirement after the 2004 NFL season. As a player, he did win the Super Bowl (XXXI) and 2X NFC Champions (96–97). As a coach, he won the NFC East Division Title (2010). Jeffrey Lurie started with 25 coaching candidates, pared the group to 10, inter-viewed 6, and, finally introduced Doug Pederson as the Eagles next coach. The process to find Chip Kelly’s replacement came under scrutiny, but Lurie insisted it was thorough—and that Pederson, how-ever familiar—checked the box on every-thing. Lurie witnessed Pederson’s leadership blossom from player to assistant coach to head coaching candidate. He saw a 47-year old who came across as a smart strategic thinker with unparalleled communication skills and was comfortable in his own skin. Pederson also knew Philadelphia and the passion of the fans. And the team knew him, too. Pederson signed a five year contract. Doug Pederson’s first big move as Eagles head coach was looking up Jim Schwartz as Defensive Coordinator. Schwartz, 49, spent 5 seasons as the Lions Head Coach from 2009–2013 He was a de-fensive coordinator from 2001–2008 with the Tennessee Titans and in 2014 with the Buffalo Bills. Scwartz spent the last season working with the NFL’ s officiating depart-

ment and was a popular candidate for teams looking for a defensive co-ordinator. “I’m excited to have him, his track record and his defenses that have led the National Football League,” Pederson said. “I’ve had a chance to coach against him and I am glad he is on our team now.” Nearly all of Pederson’s aides are in place. The new coaches include offensive coordi-nator Frank Reich. Reich, defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz and special-teams coordinator Dave Fipp all have experience

in their roles which will help Pedersen in his first year as head coach. The biggest addition to the staff was Frank Reich, 54, who was the San Diego Chargers offen-sive coordinator the last two seasons. The Chargers ranked no. 9 in yards per game in 2015 and no. 18 in 2014 with Phillip RIvers Quarterback and Reich calling plays. He does not come from Andy Reid’s coaching tree. Reich is well known as a former QB spending 13 seasons in the NFL. He played nine seasons for the Buffalo Bills and led the Bills to a 32 point come back in the second half of the AFC playoffs in January 1993. He spent six seasons as the Indianapolis Colts quarterbacks coach and worked closely with Peyton Manning. The Eagles have agreed to terms with the following 15 coaches:

Jim Schwartz—Defensive Coordinator Frank Reich —Offensive Coordinator Dave Fipp—Special Teams Coordinator Eugene Chung—Ass’t Offensive line/ Tight Ends/ Run Game Phillip Daniels—Defensive Quality Control Ken Flajole—Linebackers Matthew Harper—Ass’t special teams Tim Hauck—Defensive backs, Safeties Greg Lewis—Wide Receivers Justin Peelle—Tight Ends Duce Staley—Running Backs Jeff Stoutland —Offensive line Press Taylor—Offensive Quality Control Cory Undlin—Defensive Backs/ Corners Dino Vasso—Control/Ass’t Secondary

Let’s see what players they pick up in the trade or free agents. They have a lot of needs.

Coach Doug Pederson

The only reason you can say it is boring living here, is because you do not participate in the many activities that go on here. So I went back and looked at the calendar from last year. There was something going on constantly. How many times have I written in these articles that we are always looking for new ideas and suggestions? It seems that whatever activity is run the same people support it. So lets get some more participation from everyone this year.

BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS n cheryle goldBerg

THANKS TO EVERYONE for your wonderful cooperation in sending me all of the birthdays and anniversaries. All of the cards February and March will be distributed while I’m gone, and we’ll renew the birthday and anniversary listing section in The Villa’s Voice when I return in April. Stay well and I’ll see you when I return in April.

PLEASE NOTE! The Villa’s Voice will not be printing any birthday or anniversary listings in Feb/March, since Cheryle Goldberg will be away. Please do not drop money and birthday/anniversary forms at her house while she’s away. Residents should save their December issues of the Voice to make sure they have the current spring birthday and anniversary information. Publishing the updated birthday & an-niversary listings will begin again in April, and money and forms can then be dropped off to Cheryle upon her return.
