SFASA's 2016 Conference, "Into the Future: An Adult Autism/DD Planning Workshop" will be held December 3 at the LKS Center at Stanford University. We expect about 350 attendees and registration will launch in September. The morning will feature a general session on lifespan planning, and lunch will feature some "out of the box" speakers. The afternoon will feature more than a dozen discussion groups and small presentations. We invite people from the community to apply to host the afternoon groups. These programs are buckling under currentconditions and they are only going to get worse withthe increasing number of adults like my daughterabout to age out of the school settingCaliforniarsquos day programs for adults with autism are underfunded and overcrowded But with thousandsof young people with developmental delays or disabilities about to reach the age at which they can nolonger attend a public school the problem is soon going to get much much worse

We saw there is no real help for autism families in crisis

Like so many families with children who have autism and struggle with aggressive behaviors our

experience last summer was one that no parent should ever have to face
