mul·ti·verse: An infinite realm of being or potential being of which the universe is regarded as a part or instance.

Coined in 1895 by the American philosopher and psychologist William James.

What is a Multiverse?

According to Kaku, black holes could be connected to “white holes”, out of which new universes are created.

This could explain a link between our universe and other “baby universes” which stem off of our universe.

We are unable to perceive parallel universes because they exist past our past and future light cones (space and time which we can influence).

Multiverses provide a possible explanation of dark matter

“The source of dark matter is gravitational attraction from nearby parallel universes of the multiverse which we are constantly branching to and from.” – Rob Bryanton

Gravity travels across dimensions.

Level I: Beyond our cosmological horizon

Level II: Universes with different physical constants

Level III: Many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics

Level IV: Ultimate Ensemble Each level can incorporate the levels

below it.

Level I: Beyond our cosmological horizon

There are an infinite number Hubble volumes, all of which are governed by the same physical constants and laws.

Level II: Universes with different physical constants

There are “bubble universes” that exist in close proximity to each other, but they are all governed by the same physical constants and laws.

Level III: Many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics

Every time a chance event occurs, the universe is split and a universe is created for each possibility.

Level IV: Ultimate Ensemble There are other sets of universes

which exist under different mathematical structures.

Tegmark’s own hypothesis: “Our external physical reality is a mathematical structure”
